Exclamation Problems with TS0099 IP on Forcefield after IUM install

    Hi all,

Have a site where the new TS0099 IP interface is fitted into 2 of 3 Challengers connected to Forcefield (3rd has TS0898 IP interface). Site was working fine with all 3 Challengers via Forcefield until upgrade of memory from 1meg to IUM on all 3; now IP comms only come up on the one with the older IP card.

    Any ideas?

    Have already:

    - Verified and re-entered all configs as the same on Forcefield and all Challs
including comms settings, security password, Ethernet settings
    - Power cycled panels
    - Defaulted panels for redump
    - Done default menu '14' option '4' on each IP card
    - Spoken to numerous people at DAS (generally prefer it to GE)

Only thing left that I can think of is to try is shift the working card to the other Challs.

    Any other ideas??

the challenger might be a bit old and not compatible to handle IUM until you cut the track behind the chip?

    what firmware are you running?

how did u go with changing the working card?

You may need to do the 2Meg mod on the challenger that is not working. Get us some more info like current versions and PCB rev.

    Default 2meg mod

Procedure to Upgrade a TS0816 Challenger panel to use 2M EPROMS

Locate the EPROM socket U13 on the Challenger board. Immediately above this socket (when viewed in the normal installation position) you will see two links labelled EPROM.

The left-hand link will be further labelled with “1M” on its left and “2M” on its right. By default earlier challenger revisions are defaulted to use 1M EPROMs.

Noting the position of this link, remove the Challenger PCB from the base. Turn the PCB over and look at the link location from the rear of the board. You will see that the center and right-hand pads (when viewed from the rear) of the link are joined by a short track. This track corresponds to the 1M default.

With a very sharp knife, cut the link between these two pads. Be very careful not to cut or damage any other track in this area as it will void the boards warranty.

A link must now be soldered between the center and left-hand pads (when viewed from the rear). This will allow the use of 2M EPROMS.

I realise you have done a lot of these steps already, but it helps to check the following in this order:

    - default the TS0099 using menu 19>14>4
    - go into 19>47, skip past the first two options where you say yes or no
    - enter in connection details
    - exit menu 47 and then go back in and set the first two options to yes
    - check computer address under menu 9
    - check connection password under menu 19>29. Make sure attempts aren't set to 0. Otherwise it won't work.

    From Forcefield check the following:

    - can you ping the unit? Remember to try from the server shell, not the Windows client command prompt. If it won't ping, try pinging from a laptop connected directly to the TS0099. If still won't ping then the interface is buggered.
    - Check that you told Forcefield that the Challenger is running IUM.
    - Is the panel running 8.128 firmware? If so, you need to tell Forcefield that the panel is a V8 Extended type.
    - If it's still not talking, look in the ACA log. Check to see if the panel is sending return signals to the server. If it isn't, then there is a network setup problem.
    - If you are getting a reply but it still won't register in Forcefield. Give DAS a call and explain what the log is showing.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the replies>>
Had checked that, all are already 2M boards, has to be done from the offset with IP interfaces, all running 8.128.
