    Default Alarms & iPhone Apps

Does anything like this exist for Australian home owners?

Looks like it is a hit in the USA.

I already do it. Not only can you monitor your system with our app. You can control your whole home from your iphone.

    Lighting
    Alarm
    CCTV
    Intercom
    HVAC
    Pool pumps etc etc etc

i have a DVR & have tried this but the DVR uses java and the iphone doesn't. How are you viewing it? Through a web browser or through an application?

Hills Reliance & newer NX (e-series) have an addon called ComNav which enables control via a soon to be released iPhone App. It currently supports access via browser interface and touch tone phone. In a nutshell, the ComNav allows control over your alarm and any connected relays, reports via SMS & email, and interfaces with specific Kocom intercoms to allow two way communications between your front door and you via your mobile device.
Texecom have a similar product on their 'wish list' and I'd assume the Ness M1 would have to be some where in there as well given the type of system it is although I've not seen it first hand.

Ah! The beauty of remote wipe. If a device is lost or stolen you can issue a remote wipe command that removes all data and deactivates the device.

    Hi intelliGEORGE

    Your setup sounds very interesting

What security/automation system do you have installed?

Is it all run by the one system on site when you control it from your iphone?

How does the iphone connect to it from the outside world, GPRS or a hardwired network connection on site?

Yes. The iphone talks to the controller which talks to all the connectivity partners attached.

Wireless internet. From anywhere. There is also a security dongle you can plug into any PC with internet connectivity that allows remote control.
