    Default Name this panel

Anyone shed any light on what sort of panel this is, didn't find any distinguishing markings on the box or the pcb.

I think it could be a C&K of some sort

    Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!

I *HATE* those friggin' panels more than any other. There's an ethically challenged locksmith around my way who must have a secret underground warehouse full of them as I swear he's running around installing them as new to this day.

Adrock - I beg you, do to that panel as Top Gear would to a caravan.

You can still buy them from ADI global in a kit form at a reasonable price so they are still being installed! I've still got one in the house I bought recently and haven't had time to upgrade it yet but it still works perfectly and does the job.

As would a Datsun 180B and a Ericsson EH237 Mobile phone.

I trust you haven't upgraded your car or cellphone in the last 15 years.

What's your point ? Like I said my 236 works fine and I've been to busy to change it. It's still a reliable product that works and is still being sold today. I wouldn't personally install them as they don't have any modern features that tech savvy consumers want these days, but when you rock up to do a maintenance or a commissioning on one of these little suckers 9 times out of ten there ain't thing wrong with them!

Haha, thanks for all the insightful info on these panels...

It's a mate of mines and asked if i knew anything about it, as he wants to change companies and we'd be doing the take over. So it was to find the model to see if there's a way to backdoor into installer, because as we know most people wont give them up easily ... fair enough.

So the next question is... are they easy enough to take over or should i 'Top Gear' it and upgrade...

If it was one of my mates I'd have a crack at defaulting it and reprogramming it as I've commissioned a few of these in my time and can get around them by working out what version it is by looking at the pcb so you program from the correct manual.if you haven't programmed one before then it can be painful to to get your head around the distinctive style of the C&K brand.
Out of interest what's your preferred system if you were to upgrade?

I called ADI a couple of months back, and was informed spare parts are no longer available, and the 236i is no longer supported. If they are still selling them, that begs the question...what about after sales service?
As for their capability, they were a great panel in their time, as was the Datsun 180B, but both should now be passed into that great museum in the sky! They have seen their day!

I've heard this before. Powering up & entering programming with a known chip then with power still on you swap the chips. I've tried this & you don't know how difficult this is until you try it. Chances are you will either -
    A) short spmething out & release the smoke OR
    B) miss a pinhole & bend the legs of the chip over

So you still work on them as well? From my experiences chipping was only for the 238 and only for the 236 if pirate guard was enabled. If it isnt all you had to do to default the 236 installer code was cycle the power and it would reset the install code to 012345. Then it's matter of programming the phone numbers account code etc etc.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the advice on this. My mate is going to try and get the installer code off the guy who installed it.
I dont have access to any C&K default chips so it might be upgrade time.

Out of interest what's your preferred system if you were to upgrade?
For this place I'd fit a Crow Runner. It's what we use for the small domestic market
