Looking for the best antispy program

I do not understand how it could happen but I have noticed that somebody is using my computer against my will. That is why I have an urgent need of the dependable antispy program. Please give me your propositions.

then best practice to re-do machine... I know others have different opinions on THAT but its the only REAL way to know.

there is ALWAYS a solution before you reach that stage. I have resurrected many computers that should have been re-formatted. It just takes a bit of paticence and know how. Also, remember that google is your friend, ALL the answers are there at your finger tips.

Get yourself a copy of Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5.0 and select the free version when installing it's a big file and a big update but is a good backup antimalware tool.

or download the Emergency toolkit that I've posted about before

Malwarebytes is good as well. But have found Emsisoft detects stuff that Malwarebytes misses.

+ one big one on that, Mick. Emsisoft found 9 malware progs that both Kaspersky and Malwarebytes missed. Thanks muchly.

yea Emsisoft found heaps that malwarebytes did not, but also it did mess up some of my programs and java that firefox uses, but still a great program.

What sort of programs were they ? Anything serious, or tracking cookie grade etc ? I am dubious as to what a lot of malware programs label as malware. Some of the reviews by people are concerning :

PC Mag gave it a pretty poor rating

False malware detection appears to be an issue.

well going by that review, that explains why some of my programs like jave and a few others have stopped working correctly. its seems that the Emsisoft software has tagged them as trojans ??

Possibly.......I just installed and ran it. It wouldnt update , I got an error message so did a scan with the subscriptions it had. Apart from a heap of tracking cookies ( which I expected ) it didnt find anything.

You might need to do a system restore ( if possible ) back to before the installation if it has given you issues with programs.

You cant trust all reviews, but I have found a few programs in the past that have falsely identified valid stuff as nasties. The problem is that if it thinks its a nasty and its not and you follow its advice to delete or quarantine you end up with problems.

Interstingly, it didnt find any tracking cookies from Opera , only Firefox which I find very unlikely.

I just installed and ran Malwarebytes and all it found was a Office 2007 keygen.

What I should have added which everyone should do with any Antivirus/Anti Malware packages is before you delete they generally give you the option to unselect suspect detections.

I've been caught in the past with false detection. No Antivirus/Anti malware is 100% accurate plus I guess things like patches and Kegens etc will get added to most packages as a Riskware detection.

quarantine is a good option if your not sure and if any progs stop working because of false detection then you should be able to recover the files back out of quarantine.

Really strange I've been using Emsisoft for years and have only had a few problems with deleting and/or messing up programs. Not sure why it stuffed up java and java based apps.

Try Spyware doctor, it's a bit laggy but it's removed the most files from my computer last time without affecting programs... Just make sure you look at what your removing before you attempt to remove it.

also dont forget that some of these malware products have deals going...yeah yeah put on the tin foil hat. but the amount of times malwarebytes has flagged a good website is almost getting beyond ridiculous. thats one reason I am switching over to avira antivir... as has built in malware detection... just my opinion

edit: also remember a few years ago.... other TOP malware products are considered not so great now. swings and roundabouts!

Thats an outstanding program.... bit of feedback ... detected some high level warnings. but I have a feeling they were false positives for example... flagged my router firmware upgrade..
also flagged my linux config save files...

again perhaps it was not a false positive but I'd much prefer to be warned than not too.

definitely adding this one to the list.
