A video shop may be cheaper for the odd movie here and there.

Of course that means going into the real world away from the PC

Yes, and they just bin those notices as well so you're safe using BT if you wanted.

NP

But it has been a few week since I was at a video store. I was just trying to say that the hard stuff is only on BT. Everyone can get underbelly or prosion break. Got underbelly 1 to 13 weeks ago.

Still open to a link to Buck Rogers. Remember it as a kid. It would probably be a poor Sci-Fi series now. It did not make the video stores

At least the pilot should be a good laugh

Cheers

Hey i have had at least 15 of those messages and nothing has ever followed through it did make me change my ways abit especially when the ISP said if any one got these notices after a certain date they will disconnect the net so i thought i might add a few tips

Download smart if you see a New film dont download it unless it is from a reliable source which there are heaps because they are all 99% fakes either the wrong movie, a 99% then stop movie or Porn and they are just after your IP address also as stated before use encryption in Utorrent or Azerus as it hides your IP and also is helpful if your ISP throttles Downloads :P

Hope this helps thanks

If you use sites like mini nova each torrent is rated and has comments so you can see if it is a fake or not. I have never downloaded something dodgy from there. I would say the movie companies could still download the same torrent and get a list of IP addresses they are connected to though.

I use bittorrent because it is totally free, easy to search and I get high download speeds if i set the number of incoming connections to unlimited. Also the best source of free pron IMHO on the internet comes from cheggit which uses bittorrent

Yes John1711 that sounds good (use encryption in Utorrent or Azerus as it hides your IP)
How do you enable it?

The encryption option in Bit torrent does not hide your IP address it encrypts the traffic from peer to peer to help avoid bandwidth throttling by some ISP’s notably BT in England. It simply makes it harder for the ISP to determine what the traffic is. As most of the anti p2p firm identify you by your connecting to them where there are a client or the source of the file. In the context of web browsing and the tor network yes you can hide your IP address by using anonymous proxy servers etc but that does not apply to bit torrent.

Per the ISP’s response to infringement notices. It depends on the ISP some will cut your connection as a warning or permanently for breach of their acceptable use policy. Optus has been known to do that.

In reality unless its kiddie porn or something I think a lot of ISP’s consider the notices nuisances value but they have to act by advising you and perhaps take some form of action. If the film company sends an infringement notice to the ISP and they do nothing at all or very little then the film company may then have a case against the ISP as being a co offender or similar in allowing the act. The film companies could expect to get a lot more money out of an ISP than some poor kid downloading Batman and MP3’s

This is the exact principal that closed the Melbourne computer swap meets for a while. Microsoft went after the people who run the event as well as the stall holders selling warez.

Take a look at NEWS servers much less trouble and much faster downloads too.

I think im doing this news group thing all wrong.

Im an internode user and the news groups are included as part of the deal ( thanks for the tip sanity) so I had a look on the internode site and followed the instructions. Downloaded & installed Thunderbird, pointed it at the news server & clicked manage newsgroup subscriptions. I now have a large list of groups I can subscribe to but how do I know what groups may contain the information im after its all a bit confusing. Is there some kind of search feature??

You need to use the force Luke. Well not really but have a look at NZB files. You can use a news search engine such as Binsearch -- Usenet search engine and search for lots of stuff. Say you find what you want you click create an NZB file then using a newsreader such as News Rover

News Rover Usenet Newsreader -- Search, download and decode Usenet newsgroup messages, jpg, gif pictures and MP3 music files simply by clicking on the NZB file you can download the files.

News Rover also has a search engine service which is included after the trial if you subscribe which also gives you News Rover updates.

Some files on news are split using HJsplit or similar too but it’s a simple matter to rejoin them.

The main thing is to have a News server provider with high retention and a good number of groups. The one I list earlier in this post does and also gives you a free copy of New Rover but the search engine component and further updates require a subscription after 12 months or so.

Also look at News Rover Usenet Newsreader -- Search, download and decode Usenet newsgroup messages, jpg, gif pictures and MP3 music files

One really got thing is its very fast - I run 15 concurrent download connections and can pull 400 MB in minuetes
