Default NAS - Whats required for local streaming?

    Hi,
    I have a QNAP TS 221 running 4.2.0 build 20160311 firmware.
I have PLEX installed so that my two Samsung smart TV's can access movies off the NAS
Plex as a server delivers movies well when the server is hosted on my PC, needless to say my PC needs to be on for anyone to watch a movie in the rest on the house but when I set up the server on the NAS I get a lot of lag.

The network is cabled entirely with CAT5 shielded and all switches are TPLINK gigabit.
I'm beginning to think the NAS needs a bit more grunt
    Basic NAS specifications are;

    any thoughts would be appreciated,
    Thanks.
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Yes, and yes Hoe (Samsung's not a fan of Twonky) - but still a lot of lag and buffering.
It's weird because when I put my dedicated media player back in to the system ( MyGica 1800+ on HDMI2) and the streaming from the NAS through Kodi works perfectly
I was just looking for ways to implement just a Smart TV, a neater simpler system for her that lives indoors
    cheers

Any Samsung Smart TV will pick up movies on you network NAS. Smart Hub does it's job pretty well. If you can live with Samsungs clunky video /video folders etc. It does the job.

My setup is far simpler and works well. All I have is a peer-peer network set up and whichever machine holds the video can be seen by all other machines on the network. No lag. The only criteria is that each TV has a computer connected to it and that the serving 'puter is turned on.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Yes, a lot simpler and a system that works, but I guess I'm getting Old, Mean and thrifty.
I'm just trying to get rid of those power sucking devices between the source (my movies) and the those that want to watch them.
    Thanks for the input

Thanks Hoe, Installed the app on my NAS but have yet to get the Samsung to see the correct folders - as intimated by Bula, I may have to copy my NAS folders the specific directories the Samsung wants to looks at - Bit of a pain but I have tomorrow off I may shift things around tomorrow.
    Cheers

Make sure you select the dlna profile to suit your TV when the list of devices is shown. (seviio console/status/edit), as there are specific profiles to suit different series samsung tvs.

I had been using a WD World book nas to store movies and whatnot served via a Belkin g'bit router wirelessly to my Samsung smart TV. It worked great, I just hated Samsungs clunky dlna interface.
I've just implemented a HP microserver with freenas inplace of the WD and am now using Plex on the Samsung. It's working flawlessly so far, although I'm rarely streaming more than one thing at a time..

It's overkill for my needs, but it works easily and looks pretty.
