Default This was bound to happen...

Somebody had difficulties handling their new toy:

Gordon, you haven't visited London lately

Probably has already happened before but this time somebody noticed it and put it in the news.

Was it a bird? ...or was it a drone? ...and what is the difference?

I would expect a goose at high altitude and speed would cause significantly more damage than a fragile drone at a few hundred feet.

Be interesting to know what a drone made of carbon fibre, wire, metal and a lipo battery would to to an engine at full thrust on takeoff.

Edit: Looks they have already done simulations with worrying results

I am going to treat nomeats aspersions regarding this article had anything to do with me just because I displayed a complete and total lack of aptitude by flying my drone into my shinbone and bleeding all the the place with righteous indignation !!!!

But in reply to the other query as to how much material would take to damage a Jet Aircraft engine, might I say I would not like to be on an Aircraft if an amount of anything, bird or drone equal the the size of shoe box was ingested by the engine running at full speed.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

The drones they are looking at are hardly of the type we little hobbyists are using.
Something weighing 8 pounds already requires an aviation license or at least some kind of registration if I remember correctly, including all drones that fly beyond visible range relying solely on FPV.
