    Default Splitting a signal

I needed a new arm on my sat dish as it was rusty
So I just got a 3 month free trial with foxtel and it included a free dish
They re used the old wire at it was too complex and was going to cost me to run a new line in.
It was used for my Vast
Is it possible to connect the Vast to the same feed using a spliter ?
Theres only a spot for one line in on both vast and austar box.

Bahahahaha, they did that to a few of my Installations before with the old Aurora.
When i turned up days later, my RG6 for the customers Aurora had been repurposed, cheeky buggers.

Essentially you need 2 x RG6 cables from your dual LNB (do you have this?)
Once you have this, just use a simple Multiswitch, 2in 8out to run what ever boxes you have

You might find them cheaper, last time the Foxtel guy just gave me 10 of them for free, i have no idea why.

On a side note, i didn't know Foxtel did 3 Months "suck it and see" contracts
Sure it wasn't a Telstra contract deal?
What did that cost you, might be helpful for some members whom are too lazy and too cheap to buy and install their own dish

This is all i could find

    It was telstra
    free
but dont have a dual LNB
It was going to cost extra to run some cable and they wanted to do it externally
    So I said no

Technically, you can use a splitter on a single coax, but the decoder on the power pass leg will set the polarisation of the LNB.

Eg. If you have a Foxtel box powering the LNB and it's on a horizontal transponder (which most are) the Vast box won't work at the same time because all Vast channels are on vertical transponders.

The same if the Vast box is powering the LNB, the Foxtel box would only work on Vertical channels (not many).

As mentioned, you need a dual LNB with two coax cables into a multiswitch, or a quad LNB with 3 or 4 coax cables.

If you also have a terrestrial antenna, you can combine one dual LNB output with the terrestrial signal and separate it at the other end and use the dedicated satellite cable on the other LNB output.

I have used this method several times where it was impossible to run an additional coax from a satellite dish.

Well, the short answer to your first question is NO

Seems odd, as the Foxtel by Telstra deal i just read said Free Installation and HD Box for 3 months, that would required a Dual LNB and Dual RG6
Pretty disappointing if they trying to get out that saying its a hard install.

Was the existing Dish and Cabling installed by you?
Or was it a previous old Foxtel/Austar installation?

They were willing to install dual at an extra price and run the wires externally.
I had an old Austar dish that came with the house
The rusted arm snapped off as they removed it.
It was one good storm away from failure.
I was going to have to replace it so it was cheaper to get it replaced free by Uncle Rupert.
I see it as compensation for backing the Liberals to kill the NBN
I will cancel before the 3 months is up and go to Vast again .
Ive spent all day on foxtel and its the full package and there is virtually nothing really I want to watch or would miss if it wasnt there, other than live footy and Vast gives me a good choice for free.
