You can connect them in series, parallel or a combination of both.
Generally a 5Kw system is 20 x 250W Solar Panels
They are mostly connected in Series for the above
Hi 5kw solar system do they wire panel s series or parallel?
Thanks

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

if they are all in series , then what would the DC voltage at the inverter input be ? around 300?
is it DC system with the big ugly inverter or is it the micro inverters which look after only 2 panels and AC to the switchboard??
You just can't stack panels in series. It becomes very dangerous.
5kW of panels assuming 200W panels @ 80V OC all in series would be 2000V. With 2.5 amps behind it and breakdown or accidental contact is going to be fatal.
How you wire your panels depends on how you want to run your system and what voltage all the other components are.
Ideally higher voltages have slightly better efficiency, but they also become more hazardous. But often you're restricted to what's practical or what you can afford.
I run (4x12V panels in series) x 6 strings in parallel
also with (2 x 24V panels in series) x 3 strings in parallel
Charges banks of 48V batteries running 24V inverters and 12V lights.
Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.
With what I have seen most of the local ones are Split in 2 into the inverter that is 1 x 10 panels into 1 Input and 1 x 10 into Second input into Inverter.
Mine are in series.
10 x 35v o/c = 350vDC.
I have 2 system and 2 inverters.(Early install)
Grid connected @230vAC
Good source for solar info
Have a nice day
