Angry Help please with setting up

Hi guys, have a new van with sat dish, which is going round and round but nothing is coming through tv. The tv is set to HDMI1 but message reads - unsupported signal format and now sat dish reads 'scan ID failed'. The dish is registered.

Firstly you have started 2 threads in the wrong section so I have asked Mods to move to Newbie Satellite forum.

    Need more info!
Is it a Foxtel system or VAST or ???

Why would the dish be going round & round?
Is it a self locating/automatic satellite tracking dish?
    Where are you located?
Have you been able to successfully operate this system at any time?
    Cheers, Tiny

Assuming from your post both the Van and the Dish are all brand new, I would presume it came with instructions (if not WHY NOT?) and have you read them??

I will agree some manuals leave a lot to be desired but it should at least give you the basics to be able to acquire a Satellite signal.

But as Tiny says, the 'Devil's in the Details' and thats what you need to provide to get your problems sorted.

If it was motorised and it came with the vast box included then it would have been set up by the caravan company
The problem now is if you have played with the settings in the acu (antenna control unit )
If you have or if you have reset it to factory defaults the easiest way to fix it is take it back to where you got it from and ask them to reset it
I get customers doing it all the time and i love it when they say it did it by itself or it asked me did i want to do the upgrade which of course it didnt
Just take it back tell them what you did to it ,if you did ,and ask them to reset it for you

Much more info required to help you.

I'm assuming your dish is a motorised automatic locating/tuning type.

I am also assuming you are talking about VAST... or is it Foxtel?

When you say your van is 'new' is it brand new?

Is the dish also brand new?

What do you mean by the dish is 'registered'?

Do you mean the smartcard in the receiver is registered/activated?

If yes, how did you activate the smartcard if you can't get the dish to obtain signal (so the smartcard receives the activation via the satellite)?

Please post make and model of the dish and if possible, tuning frequency the dish controller is searching for.

I've encountered this issue several times and it is usually that the transponder frequency that the dish uses to locate has changed, hence it just searches aimlessly for a signal that is no longer there.

It makes you wonder sometimes if questions are posed to see if anyone is reading them.
I know when I ask for help, I am back and forth checking to see if anyone has responded unless its late in the day and I leave it until the next day but I check as soon as I come on line.

I understand what he means by unsupported format as I have a tv that does the same with vast and hdmi
I my case the tv I'm sure needs a firmware upgrade - but it is 9 years old and he doesn't say how old his parts are
is scan id related to the tv as well because it can't get the signal from the box? only asking

The HDMI issue is separate from the dish continually moving though.

Some answers from the OP would help.
