Not watching FTA very often, I wasnt sure if we had 9LIFE before even though a Friend said she watched it regularly, but she wont now until they restore it but why take it off now?

Would someone like to explain to me in PAIN SIMPLE terms WHY I have DIFFERENT channel numbering on a TV and a Digitasl STB?

BOTH have been rescanned since Friday Noon after the changeover.

The TV is an ONYX with a NON compliant MPEG 4 tuner and these are the channels now shown.

    50 9HD (mpeg4)
    51 NINE
    52 9GEM
    53 9GO
    54 9LIFE (mpeg4)
    55 TBA
    56 ASPIRE

    80 WIN Orange HD (mpeg4)
    81 ONE
    82 ELEVEN
    83 WIN Network (mpeg4)
    84 TVSN
    85 GOLD
    86 ONE Orange
    88 WIN Orange.

    Topfield STB.

    50 GEM
    51 NINE Orange
54 TBA (NO 52 or 53 as above)
    55 9GO!
    56 ASPIRE

    80 WIN Orange HD
    81 WIN Orange
    82 ELEVEN
    83 ONE
    84 WIN Network
    85 TVSN
    86 GOLD
    88 ONE
    1001 9 HD
    1002 9LIFE.

Everything is there but just not in the same order...........

Maybe you could try a factory reset on the STB (or Both) & rescan & see what happens .....

Maybe one is older than the other ? with older firmware or something ?

Do they both have the same good signal ..... you could try swapping Antenna leads & see if anything happens .....

Did they both scan the same before July 1st ?

9HD & 9Life seem to be being picked up as belonging to another group of channels ? Are they both showing the correct broadcast OK

of course could be something else too .......

The TV is probably 3/4 years old and the Topfield stb barely a year old and was bought a few weeks after they introduced the MPEG 4 channels.
I have 3 TV's, 1 more Topfield and a 4/5 year old Strong STB to compare how they list the channels.
They are all fed from the one antenna with the 'RF Loop through' of the Topfield connected to the ONX TV.

Have you tried OSIRUS' suggestion, Gordon?

Often a full reset first, then scan is the fix.

After I found the user manual for the default Pin Number, I did a factory restore (no reset button) and on recan its now showing the channels as they 'should be'.
How odd is it that both of the Topfields STB's have done exactly the same thing?

Yes, it really is a mess.

Visiting my parents and trying to explain to them what the changes mean, well, I have to get my head around it first.

And, the WIN website has TBA for many of their programs and channels.

So, I'm leaving it for a few days until the TV guides both online, and via the channels, are updated.

The Guides here were surprisingly up to date with the changes which surprised me but of course we're missing some programing like 9LIFE and what is proposed for those other TBA channels we will have to wait and see.(poor PUN there)

The EPG provider that is behind the data for the web sites updated the channel names over the weekend. Unless some person hard coded (hey you never know) the channel names in a given web guide, pretty much everything should be showing the right channel names now.

Sorry, I meant the printed (Newspaper) guides, no the EPG.
