Like the idea or not, everything costs and has to be paid for and if the Government and the Taxpayer want the service but dont want to pay for it as usual, money has to come from 'Somewhere' and unless the ABC can grow a few money trees around their offices or Transmission towers, advertising is the only other source available apart from reintroducing license FEES, something that no Government would dare 'Run up the Flagpole of Ideas' again as apart from nearly getting a Government of the day thrown out of power when it was hinted at, never raised anywhere near what is needed to cover the costs of the ABC.
Dont like, dont want it but whats the alternative?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

If you give them adds they become just another corporate media outlet and have to bow down to the money givers.
Its too important an institution for that.
We subsidise mining companies oil surely that could be cut to pay for the ABC and many other things
