Default How do you choose 'Select/enter/OK' when it doesnt exist?

Move if in wrong section please.

The other day the remote for a TV played up and I found somehow the On/Off chicklet had been pushed firmly down into the remote which when I gently pried it back up, the remote works ok.
In the meantime I tried out the panel on the back of the TV with the controls on it in case the remote fails again but I couldnt work out how to choose ' Source'.
The panel has On/Off, Volume, Menu, Channel up and Down, Source but NO OK or Enter when you put source on the input you want, so how do you choose it?

I have another TV with a similar panel but no where in the manual does it mention using these buttons on the TV, only the remote.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

This might seem too obvious, but I've seen it work like this before - keep pressing source until it shows the one you want (eg. HDMI2) and then just wait...

Like many TV's and other devices, it may rely totally on a remote for certain functions.

The remote fails or is lost etc and you are left with a device you can't use at all in some instances.

    Bloody annoying, isn't it!.

Thanks all for the replies and I did wonder after posting the query if just pressing 'Source' until it shows the input you want would work but I thought I would wait.
I remember there was a period when some devises (VCR?) came out with no User Buttons on it and you could only use the remote to operate it, not a very good idea I thought.

I can do that with my TV... but I've seen several others that doesn't work on.

A few years back I was at a pawn shop in Brissy. and he had an old Philips TV out the front, with a sign saying "$50.00, left speaker doesn't work". I asked if he had the remote, he says yeah, and went and got it. I adjusted to balance control to midway and it worked no probs. There was no balance control on the telly, and he didn't realise there was one on the remote. I scored 2 free CDs for my efforts, and he bunged the price up to $60 on the telly.

It might seems like an obvious solution - I got myself an universal remote - Logitech is my advice. I don't even remember where I put all original remotes.

Or if you want a simpler Universal remote, the Philips ones work well.

I have 2 possibly 3 'Universal' remotes, one even bearing the same name as the TV but I never seem to have much success with them.

Logitech is the answer. You can get the entry level ones for quite a good price if you don't need fancy stuff.

Probably pressing the volume up key will act as enter or ok here. Volume up key or channel up key, which ever looks as a "right" key to you. That's the usual way, going right is meant to select.
