Default Daylight Saving Starts This Sunday

    It's that time again.

Officially the change happens at 2am this Sunday, but most move our clocks/watches etc one hour forward on Saturday night before going to bed.

States/territories observing daylight Saving are VIC, TAS, NSW, ACT, SA.

It's also a good time to check your smoke alarm batteries.

Daylight saving will end on Sunday April 2 2017

A dumb move IMHO... same for QLD & NT.

Has to be difficult enough for WA doing business with eastern states, but adding that extra hour more makes it all the more difficult.

Sorry I'm with QLD & NT on this, why bother changing the clock twice a year.
    It's just a placebo effect.

You live in a time zone get used to it.
Oh wow I have an extra hour of sunlight after work. so what!
    Cheers, Tiny

New Zealand went an hour back a week ago.
I think its good, i'm waking at 5:20am and its light enough, 8am seems like the middle of the day.

We have enough sunlight in North QLD without fading our curtains with an extra hour!

My body clock never got used to the change, either here in the only part of AU that counts or when I was unfortunate enough to work 'over there'

Have no fear as the National Party have rallied the troops and have petitions circulating to either reduce the period DST applies to or have it abolished completely.

I would not be the slightest bit surprised if the NSW Premier Mick Baird doesnt consider changing it (DST) as his popularity is in the gutter due to forcing several Councils to amalgamate despite promising them otherwise and the shutting down in 2017, the Greyhound Racing Industry.

It was introduced in WWI and again in WWII, thankfully some states have moved on since then

Remind me again why it wasn't needed between the wars.

Again we have here a tiny majority making a huge wind calling a change for the worse, for the rest of us.

Daylight SAVING was introduced to SAVE energy.

In NSW Daylight Saving should be the whole year! ... we basically are in the wrong time zone.
The vast majority of the inhabitants of NSW live on the eastern seaboard.
The majority also live in cities or larger towns. The majority of them also start work at 9am, when even in winter it is possible to get up in near daylight.
For everyone this means 1 hour less of electricity consumption in the evening for lighting and for those who DO STILL WORK can enjoy an hour of daylight to wind down from the stress.

I think farmers and bakers will always have to get up so early that it will be mostly dark and many miners there work underground. It is part of their job, or are we going to change everything because some shift workers or miners might not get any benefit from it either?
If it is to traumatising for those few in the far western part of NSW to wake up in the dark, then consider moving to the eastern seaboard. It is actually quite nice there.

While I totally support DST, I would not vote for it to be applied all year, even now I am retired and rise (I wish it did but it doesnt anymore) when I am ready as getting up early in Mid Winter than you have too was not one of my favorite things when I was working.

Its better, It takes long enough for anything to sink in in WA anyway, an extra hour will be a blessing!!!
