Now, provided the drive is functional, it could be that you can recover the data yourself if you connected the drive to a different working computer.
You could also download and burn to cd a copy of Hirens Boot CD, which will allow you boot the computer from CD (if Boot Order is first set from HDD to CD in BIOS). Once booted, choose to run Windows XP. Once in XP open Windows Explorer and then attempt to read the faulty hard drive. If using Hirens, I suggest version 10 as some of the later versions are not quite as versatile. For info go to .
