I know nothing about Macs, but the name of the e-mail client and who the email address is with may assist. e.g. Outlook and gmail. Do you have other e-mail addresses in the same domain that work e.g. gmail?
I have a very strange & frustrating problem that I need help with, this problem has only started a week ago (before which all was working just fine)
I have a mac laptop & an ipad.
I have several email addresses., same on both.
My problem is I can send and receive on my ipad no problem,
however, on one particular email address on my laptop I can't receive any mail.
On this same email address I have trouble sending, here's the ridiculous part... the only way I can send is to set it up, press send wait a bit, then take the laptop off-line & off it goes - mail sent !!!!!!!!
What is going on?
If I click go to my mailbox tab up the top & go down the menu to get mail, this particular email mailbox is greyed out.
Can anyone please help, I've looked online for solutions, but found nothing like my problem.
Thanks in advance

Hi lsemmens,
No I don't have gmail.
That's the weird part, this particular email address works just fine on my ipad, but not on my laptop.
Yet, my other email addresses work brilliantly on both !
....very frustrating
I only used gmail as and example, rather than me guessing who you provider is, it would be easier if you could tell us a)what you email program is and which account is causing grief.
e.g. (that means: FOR EXAMPLE) I have to set up hotmail accounts on Microsoft Outlook using dkifferent settings than I do gmail or yahoo email addresses.

I am with Telstra mail
And how do you access it. By logging on to their website or using Outlook or Windows Mail

In the past when that has occurred to me (I'm on bigpond) deleting the account and setting it up again has fixed it. Go into Outlook Account settings and check to ensure that nothing has been change. You may be on a pop3 account or imap, so you may need to check with telstra on that front. (mine is imap, now, used to be pop3)

Ok so you are using Outlook.
3 days ago one of my addresses stopped working, it's a Live.com.au address.
To fix it I did what lsemmens suggested, delete the account, which was set up as Pop3, & then add it again as an imap account.
As lsemmens said; you will need to consult Telstra to see if your Telstra Email account can work as imap. If it only does POP3 then Outlook may no longer be able to access it?
Telstra may know of the problem & be able to give you the exact fix for your account.
Microsoft has beenplaying around withmigrating which is affecting many people, It probably shouldn't be affecting your Telstra email address but then you never know?
EDIT; Just remembered that, the Outgoing Server in the Microsoft Article linked above did not work for me, had to change to smtp-mail.outlook.com

The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
the only difference in your laptop and mac maybe operating system, the solution which I find of every solution is installing new os. I do this everytime!
Things are changing, got this email from Microsoft a few days ago but I had no problems.
