Yeah, he is a bit odd, but probably one of the best concerts i'd seen when i was a kid.
I never got to see it Live, i watched it on the ABC one night....
I've never been able to find it since though.
Had songs like "Tie me to your whipping pole" and "Don't eat Yellow Snow" and "Dancing Fool"
I have an idea it was in California somewhere.
Big Stage, Huge Concert.....
As mush as i've watched him on You Tube, i've never managed to find that exact concert since.
Anyone here know his work?
Concert was broadcast in Colour

Can't remember seeing any of his concerts, but will never forget listening to Billy The Mountain when I was a lot younger.
Hahaha, found a youtube of it.

moving to montana raising some dental floss . . . .
probably stop at joes garage . .
Here I'm is, the Zomby Woof.
OB, whats with the spelling? Did Zappa zap your mind ? I sure hope so
My favs were and still are the Overnite Sensation album (of course) and Zoot Allures. (Utube is your oyster)
Favourites as in: I can play those records over and over again at P=max until even the Hot Rats have left the building.
Got plenty more including complete Joes Garage of course and all originals as they came out :bloodyshowoff:
Has anybody ever released more albums than him?
His lyrics were actually worth listing to(hilarious) and stick to the mind and at some stage you cant stop saying 'crux of the biscuit' and 'titties an beer'.
Perhaps you need to be a bit crazy to enjoy his creativity or perhaps it was his crazyness that made you feel creative The crazy drummer of my second band was obsessed with Zappa.
Unfortunately I never saw Zappa live, at least not consciously.

I was more of a Captain Beefheart fan
I saw him live at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia in the mid 80's.
Apparently the thing to do if you were a female Zappa fan, was bring a spare pair of panties to the show and throw them on stage. My female friend who was with me looked around and said "Really they're throwing their panties on stage?"
Well not to be to left out, she ripped both sides of her panties and then pulled them up and out of her jeans and threw them on stage! (we were 3rd row back from the front)
Whether or not Frank saw how they came to be or caught the aroma I cant say, but he picked hers up with a slightly moist crotch, and hung them from his guitar!
He then proceeded to say in a baritone voice, "I've been looking for a pair like these!"
True story . .

Wish I were old enough to see Zappa play! This vid is pretty surreal
