Default Bucket of Gold - Where was the Security?

This story just cracked me up.....
You'd be asking your Security Company some questions, when a man can just walk up and take a bucket full of Gold and walk away without question.

Looked like there were several more 'buckets' on the pallet.... conveniently sitting right at the back of the truck....So if 1 bucket contained $1.6 million.... how much was the whole shipment worth?... and why the lack of security?

Apart from letting the theft happen.... it took the thief an hour, walking with the bucket to get to his vehicle, so we assume nobody even noticed the bucket was missing in that time and the camera footage was released later.

Gotta wonder how long it actually took them to figure out a bucket was missing.

Now there's a great bucket list!

He also deserves an award for being the 'Thief of the Year' to steal 'something' not knowing what was in the bucket, then after near pulling his arms out trying to lift it up, still not knowing what is in the bucket, he then carries it some distance to the 'Get Away' car...................

I think the security guards were probably too busy thinking about their new jobs in Australia at parliament house.....

Maybe they hired the guards from SERCO which is the way they guard things.

I hope they never find this guy and he gets away with it.
Seriously, they deserve to get GOLD stolen if they are going to leave it in public view like that!

Unless the thief was aware of what was in the bucket, why would you want to steal one and surely when he went to pick it up and found it was so heavy, what did he think was in it because other than lead, theres not much else with such weight in that volume.

Smells of 'SMILE, your on Candid Camera' to me......

He probably did know what he stole. I hope he does get away with it, it isn't as though he had a "cunning plan".

    I call bullshit.

No one steals a bucket randomly that weighs that much, struggling for a hour to get it back to his van without knowing there was something valuable inside.

Inside job or someone with knowledge of the transport companies business.

The Truck is a proper Security Vehicle on Googling "Loomis"
But maybe the driver and thief knew each other?
The drum was left in that easy to grab location, Guard was no where to be seen.....

    Yeah... it smells a bit.

Can we really expect security would be that bad?

If it was an inside job, you'd expect a coordinated getaway car would pick the guy up pretty much immediately.

Nobody noticed the inventory was one bucket short, for at least an hour?

I reckon you're on the 'money' Godz.

Without opening the article again and rechecking, (from memory), the guard went to the cab to get something, the guy who took the bucket walked on the foot path past the cab.

If you were stealing it, wouldn't you turn your back and go the other way and not right past the cab in fear he might see you carrying it while he was at the cab?

Id say a very real chance the driver was in on it......or the thief was dumb but had luck on his side.....

Having a get away car would point to it being organized...and would involve more people in it, more people, more chance of someone singing.

Yes 1 hour till it was noticed, the time it takes to lug something that heavy back to the car.

Something certainly smells very fishy......Asian triad gang? Once its melted into ingots im sure its untraceable.....
