Default Samsung S5 Upgrade, Reset, Root, Restore Questions!!

    Hi,

I have a number of questions which i was hoping i could get some help with!

I recently upgraded my Samsung S5 to Marshmallow and have had nothing but problems. Apps intermittently stopping and most annoying of all the "check battery cover" warning keeps coming up all the time!!

I'm looking at a few ways forward and have these questions!

    1) In preperation for a reset im trying to back up all my data using Samsung Switch - of course the backup fails! It seems to not work with SMS messages and i cant see an issue why. I've tried multiple PC's, Multiple versions and all have the same issue. Any suggestions or other free products that would transfer my whole phone? Ideally someting that I could back up to computer and then verify that it has worked (so open contact list, messages, etc on computer) would be great.

    2) Should i look at rooting the phone while im resetting? I know there is an option (if rooted) to permanetly turn off the check battery cover which i would love! Only issue is all the quick easy root guides i see online dont appear to be for the Australian version (G900I). Potentially if I could root the phone I wouldnt need to reset it?
Has anyone got details on how to root this model?

    3) Assuming I can get everything i need backed up how long will a reset take? Will it reset to the original KitKat or a fresh copy of Marshmallow?

Any help would be appreciated, driving me crazy!

    cheers

Rooting the phone simply gives root access...it doesnt change your software. Personally, I havent bothered rooting my phone for a few models now because I simply havent needed it for anything.

A reset wont take long, but I would be presuming that you will end up with a "fresh marshmellow".

You would need to flash your phone with the correct Aus version of Kitkat to get back to where you were. I have used Odin before flashing phones with no probs, this video might help

Always make sure you are using the correct version of software for your phone.

Easiest way to root a phone is to drop it From a great height onto a hard floor.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
