Default Jaycar selling a rip off of the FreeTronics "Experimenters Kit for Arduino"

A sad story about FreeTronics having their intellectual property stolen and sold by a local electronics retailer

I've been a fan of the FreeTronics gear for some years now - and have bought quite a few of their boards from the local Jaycar shop. I'll be buying a lot more stuff online now and I won't feel at all bad about it.

That is a very sad story. The owner of Jaycar obviously has no conscious.

As the comments on the video say.... is it actual Jaycar Company stores selling the kits, or just some Authorised Jaycar Stockists?

If it's only stockists, Jaycar would probably have no direct involvement.

Well... if it was on the Jaycar website, then it was indeed a company product.

Pretty poor of them.... but according to comments, it has been withdrawn.

I would view the comment that to use the term 'Authorised JayCar stockist' means the company is aware of the product and has given approval to be sold in a store bearing their name.
While I have never seen the wording of a contract for a store to be an 'Authorised Stockist', I feel sure it would clearly state that items only approved by the Company were to be carried.
This isnt to say in some areas (Country) the shop sells Oranges and Lemons, Tea and Coffee as part of their business but I think they might not be too keen if you were selling Adult Books, Video's and appliances !!!
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

    Not really, Gordon,

I know of a few different 'Authorised Jaycar stockists' that stock and sell products from various other sources, in addition to those from Jaycar.... even including products from Jaycar's competition, such as Altronics.

Being a Jaycar Authorised Stockist doesn't make a business exclusive to selling Jaycar products.

Regardless, it's been established it was in fact Jaycar promoting the sale of the kit, which it has now withdrawn from its product range.... good to see.

Pretty disappointing that an Australian company would stoop this low. Though totally expected from a Chinese company.
I suspect Jaycar will now stop selling Freetronics stuff altogether now.
Jaycar is a complete rip off with all their Arduino clone prices. Ebay stuff isn't even a tenth of their price.
