Check engine light on a almost new car could mean quite a few different things , main thing is to check all fluid levels , keep a eye on temps , and take to mechanic ASAP when he gets back .
I have a 2016 WN Caprice that has a check Engine Indicator light on the dash. I can not get hold of my mechanic or the backup mechanic atm, obviously people are on holidays and we need to respect that of course. In absence of getting in touch with my mechanic is there any way I can do some sort of read or reset of whatever this indicator is ? With my old WM Statesman I could disconnect the battery and worst case overnight this would clear the alarm provided the cause was not still an issue.
I keep on kicking myself for not getting at least a basic tool to read off the alarms from the car years ago...
BTW the car runs fine, I do have the tyre pressure sensors messaging though coming up on the dash as I have changed the wheels recently and some not so smart wheel and tyre people did not think to need to change these over with the wheels, now everyone is on holidays and I have to wait until some time in mid or late Jan to get that sorted.
Any help will be most appreciated ...

Shouldn't a 2016 car still be under factory warranty ?
where abouts are you based . there is quite a few members on here
who own odbII readers who may be close and can read the error for you.

Thanks All especially on the offers of help. BTW I a located in Melbourne SE Suburbs
I managed to find someone on ebay who was available this morning to sell me a Bluetooth OBD2 reader/tool with Torque software....this did the trick... found 1 x P015D Power Train Message in the ECU which I have now reset clearing the check engine indicator on the dash On Googling the P015D message it seems this is something to do with an oxygen senser or lean to rich mixture dealyed response of the sensor... the main thing for me is that this appears as a temporary once off. As the car is new and I have had some over and above extra's added like a 2.9l Whipple charger which are all under warranty I am sure if it or anything else comes back we will get on top of it.
BTW I am definitely happy with this little beauty, I can read at any time any message that comes up and get on top of it early if something needs attention. As I still have my WM Statesman at the moment, I found it also works on that as well... I am chuffed to see this working... so cool!
Thanks Again All
Yes True it is I only picked it up last month however I have put on some serious options not directly available through Holden Dealerships, racing into a dealership to get a fix depending on what the problem may not be the right the to do every time
I have gone all out with the following:
Paddle Shift Steering wheel
HSV Brembro Brakes all round
Lowered suspension including adjustable Coil Over Spring/Shocks system
20 inch Stance Wheels 9.5 inch on front, 10 inch rear
Xforce 3 inch stainless steel performance exhaust front to rear complete
2.9l Whipple Supercharger Dyno tuned (408KW at the wheels)
And some other items tinted windows, tow bar, auto transmission cooler and cold air intake/airbox
The dealer where I bought the car from was very understanding on what I wanted, I was looking at going to Walkinshaw or Techno Performance but ended up going to MKAL Performance... so far I have been very impressed of what these guys know and what they can do. My dealer contact is also impressed and keen to see the car... in a few weeks time I will be taking the car into the dealership as they want to have a good geek on the mods
good to see you grabbed one of those units, there is plenty good
software that will show so much of what is going on.
Have a look around there were a few threads with the different software
and peoples thoughts.

The error code is based around the O2 sensor readings.
Usually when a freer flowing exhaust and high flow cart is added AFTER a tune, the O2 sensors need a spacer to pull it away from the gas stream.
My XR6 Turbo has a full time check engine light on now that i worked the turbo and fitted a 4 inch dump and 5" cat, until i finish the bolt on mods the light will remain till i do the tune to sort it out.
If you light went on after all the parts were bolted on and after your final tune, take it back to the dyno tuner to check the mixtures in case they are a little out.
Thanks, there is a follow up including as part of the package and works that was done, it will get fixed if it is still a problem. I have a few country drives coming up, I will know soon if the message comes back. With these new cars and so many sensors involved I am getting used to an occasional intermittant message
On another point I heard that the latest Holden "mylink" systems have access to computer and alarms messages etc as well ? Does anyone know if this is true and if so how does one use it?
Your link above is not the stock mylink, its a 3rd party company.
