    Default Windows 10 update

There may be a few out there that don't realize that it still possible to update to Windows 10 for free.

Personally I purchased Windows 8.1 all those years ago and today whilst running Windows 10 I still keep my Windows 8.1 going as a HyperV Client
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Yep, have to agree, I still have both XP and 7 running as Hyper clients

It looks like Windows 10 is less popular than it expected itself to be. Personally I didn't like Windows 8 or 8.1 at all. I was and still am happy with Windows 7. But I think Windows 10 is better than winodnw 8 or 8.1.

Better watch out PZ. Vista is coming out of extended support this year - no more patches for you. Given that XP continues to have critical flaws exposed it can be expected the same will happen for Vista. 7 goes out of support in 2020 and 8 in 2023. Given that XP can be 'owned' simply by viewing a malformed jpg file, no one using it should have it connected to the internet in any way.

Windows 10 at the core is a good OS. It's just the layer upon layer of crap and 'telemetry' that Microsoft has smeared all over it that has ruined it.

Thanks for the warning. Didn't know about the patch thingy. Just couldn't be bothered messing around with file transfers etc until the last possible moment which approaches rapidly after this latest info

You know with the Windows 10 upgrade (the free one we had before), how many computers are you allowed to do with it? Only the one you download it on, or could you do another with it?

I have 2 computers, one a lappy and the other the desktop, both did the conversion to WIN10 without any prompting from me but not at thesame time fortunately.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Provided you did the online "check for w10" compatibility thingie, I think that any w10 image will work. I can't recall what the compatibility check thing did, but there were some files that said, "Yeah, this machine qualifies". Once it is upgraded and activated, then you can just blow everything away and re-install W10 without any of the usual "enter your activation code" BS. You've just got to let it talk to Big Brother who seems to have you on file after the initial install.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Works great, even on my Core2 Duo with 2 GB RAM.
