    What exactly is the problem?

    Inspection microscope/probe.

    PON meter

    Optical TDR

    Light Source

    Etc, etc.

I take it you are not trained/endorsed for fibre?

Most fibre faults (after test/certification) are mostly dirty connectors, but there's no way you can check/test without the necessary equipment.

You'll need an OF cleaner and scope to check.

If it's a fault somewhere else, you'll need an OTDR to locate the fault.

Check th connection in what way? Do you mean to check if it's well connected and in working condition? Or do you want to check and find out the about the speed of your connection? Try to be a little more specific here.
    Thank you.

And dont look into the open end of the cable either to see the pretty pulses of light as that maybe the last thing you do see so I would suggest that unless you are versed in handling Optical Fibre as explained by MTV, get someone who is.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

How are you going to check when you don't have the necessary equipment and the knowledge how to use it?

I don't want to sound rude, but if you have to ask, you need to do a training course and then get lots of practical experience.... and become licensed.

Fibre Optic cabling, testing and certification required an Open Cabler Licence, plus Optic Fibre endorsement, testing and certification.

Fibre may seem simple and in reality it is, once you know how to work with it, but it's a very complex, microscopic material.

It's impossible to work with fibre using the naked eye.

As I said before, the majority of faults developing with fibre installations happen with dirty connectors, typically patch bays.

A quick clean solves most issues.

Power outages don't affect fibres themselves, so your issue is likely more to do with transmission, reception and/or distribution hardware, or perhaps just a configuration problem.... even an issue with the server.

Did someone else install this CCTV system for you?... If yes, you need to get them to fix it.

As Gordon has said, Unless you know what you are doing, you are opening a can of worms. I would suggest paying someone who knows what they are doing. I played with OF back in the 80s and I know enough to leave it in the hands of those who know what they are doing.

edit: And yes, I was trained/qualified to work with the stuff.
