There is no set rule other than the larger the tank the less times it will cycle on/off . You just pick a tank size that will fit within the space you have . The tanks just connects into the output side of the pump via a T piece fitting.
Ive got a water pump jet type under the bedroom that is noisy and sensitive to the most minute drip.
I wanted to put a pressure tank on the pump to keep it quiet and reduce wear and power costs.
It has an electric controller on top so a t junction is needed obviously this also adds weight to the top of the pump and it has a plastic housing (not smart)
Ive seen a few tanks on ebay with legs and one that lies on its side and can even have the pump put on top of it.
Is it just straight forward to add a pressure tank to a pump with an electronic controller or is there weird engineering and maths I need to consider ?

Thanks for that
Im drawn to this one
as it can fit under the pump,24 litres will allow my wife to go to the loo a few times a night quietly too.
