If this had happened in a newly arrived group who could be unaware of the Laws relating to Marriage etc, I could understand it but if any of participants have been here a year or more I would expect them to have heard SOMETHING relating to juvenile marriages because in been in the Media previous times.

Anybody can perform a 'Form of Marriage' but its not legal if you arent 'approved' to do so where its carried out.

So are Muslim Clerics registered under the Marriage Act as a Celebrant because if they are, whoever performed this 'Ceremony' knew full well they were breaking the Law and should be prosecuted accordingly.

and as such would have know what the Australian laws are in relation to the marriage
and the laws of this country.

The person performing the ceremony is a person who is registered under their religion and
is some one who has been in this country for many yrs and knows the AUSTRALIAN LAWS
and as such when approached he should be saying NO YOU CAN NOT because in this country
it is against the law quite simple as that.

A person should not use their religion as a reason for not adhering to a countries laws.

There have been a few highly reported cases over the last few yrs about it so at one point
or another it would have been spoken about at mosques etc .
