Look at Davo like a red light runner at the top of the screen.
Didn't slow down one bit and paid the penalty.

Default V8 Supercars - Phillip Island

Wow, what a Race, what a day....
Phillip Island circuit has more damage scattered over it than the Gaza Strip!

Exceptional result for Simona De Silvestro

Great to see the organisers allow patrons to park their cars up against the fence around the circuit
    Unlike WSBK

Yeah, spectacular it was, racing it wasn't.

Watched it today. The tyres lasted 10 laps, so they make the car as heavy as possible by pitting under the pace car lap after lap just for fuel. Great strategy

    Oh Dear!!
Robby Gordon got indefinitely banned from Racing in OZ after a promotional event where he did a couple of donuts in his Stadium Truck on a Darwin public road.

Read it & weep for the nanny state.

Renaissance man of racing has always been known to in putting on a good show. Unfortunately, that penchant for pushing the limits has finally come back to haunt the Stadium Super Truck series owner after an Australian judge threw the book at him and the country's motorsport governing body handed down an indefinite racing ban over a particularly public display of hooning this weekend. We hope those donuts were tasty, Robby.
Gordon, who's raced in everything from NASCAR to Baja to IndyCar to Dakar, was apparently in a fine mood on Saturday night after taking second place in the weekend's Stadium Super Truck race and decided to celebrate in downtown Darwin, Australia. The competition took place at nearby Hidden Valley Raceway, but with one of Gordon's trucks parked outside a bar on Darwin's main drag as part of a promotional appearance, the veteran off-roader couldn't resist climbing behind the wheel for a
"We had a truck on display, I asked the two security guards, 'Hey, you think I could flip a couple of doughies?' They said, 'I don't care'," Gordon said, "I think I did two doughnuts, maybe at speed—not to make excuses, but maybe less than 5 kilometres an hour. Obviously the wheels were faster than that, but I did two doughnuts and put it back on the trailer."
DONUT KING: American motorsport veteran Robby Gordon explains why he "whipped a couple of doughies" after a night out at Lizards on Mitchell Street. He's been charged and fined - his car has been seized. See the full story on 9 News at 6pm.
Posted by on Sunday, June 18, 2017

None of those excuses flew with Judge Richard Coats, who after police reviewed videos of the stunt, impounded the truck, and charged him with a whole slew of offenses from "driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle" to "driving a vehicle causing loss of traction." Australia invented the phrase hooning, but in recent years authorities have really cracked down on vehicular shenanigans in the country—Ken Block was forced to abandon plans to shoot Gymkhana 9 in Sydney last year after officials refused to grant necessary permits.
Following in that unfortunate new tradition, the judge suspended Gordon's local driver license, fined him over $4,000 AUD, and threatened him with jail for any future repeat offenses. More importantly, he expressed hope that motorsport officials would step in and revoke Gordon's racing license, laying the groundwork for what came next: on "competition visas," meaning the American effectively can't race professionally in the country until the decision is reversed.

That's an extremely harsh punishment, but Gordon's been testing officials at CAMS for months now. that CAMS had previously fined him $1,800 AUD earlier this year over other unspecified "breaches" of safety regulations, and Gordon was allegedly forced to apologize after publicly burning the paperwork in a show of defiance. —now called Speed Energy Formula Off-Road—is incredibly popular in Australia, and as both the series' owner and one its most well-known drivers, it's not clear what impact Gordon's ban will have on future races in the country.
For his part, like always, Gordon seems to be taking it all in stride. When asked about the punishment, he's "good with that" if that's what the judge believes is fair, and noted that he's not worried about the incident affecting either him or any other outside Australia because "I own the series, [and] we make the rules."
"I've done stuff like this probably 200 or 300 times over my career," Gordon told reporters outside the courthouse "Heck; some cities promote it... It is what it is, and if we come back next year, obviously no donuts on Mitchell Street."

Thanks Tiny, i missed that post.
In Darwin of all places, where you can go mental with Fireworks for 3 days, Skipper a Boat pissed and run over an indigenous person in the dark, and receive no penalty

"Threatened him with jail", bahahahah, that is all Judges ever do isn't it. Threaten... Yet there are blokes out there on multiple violence charges, vehicle theft, petrol drive offs just walking as free men and claiming benefits from Centrelink.

That Judge needs to get out of his/her Ivory Tower and open their eyes to the world.

It was worthy of a Donation to the Darwin Base Hospital, and perhaps a public apology at the next event.

    Wow what an interesting race,

Cameron Waters and Richie Stanaway have scored their first Supercars career wins with a faultless performance in the Wilson Security Sandown 500.

The polesitting Prodrive young guns delivered on their promise to upset Supercars’ powerhouses, taking the Melbourne-based team’s third win of the season.

    .

Taking over the car in the effective lead after two strong stints from Stanaway, Waters eventually beat home the Scott McLaughlin/Alex Premat Shell Ford by 0.7 seconds.

“I don’t know what to say, I’m so pumped. I didn’t think I was going to keep him off,” said Waters.

“Scotty, I don’t know if he used his tyre up in that last stint a bit, but I managed to hold the gap and we won.

“I’m so pumped for the guys, they’ve put massive hours in, pushing the upgrades through. [Stanaway] did a bloody mega job, got me the lead and I managed to hold onto it.”

Chaz Mostert/Steve Owen completed a Ford sweep of the podium as tyre failures hit the two Red Bull Holdens.

Garth Tander/James Golding finished as the top Commodore runners in fourth after a last-lap pass on the second Shell Falcon of Fabian Coulthard/Tony D’Alberto.

Jamie Whincup/Paul Dumbrell recovered from a right-rear puncture to finish sixth, but Whincup now faces an 84 point deficit to McLaughlin in the championship ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

For the second year in a row, the Sandown classic was red-flagged following a heavy crash at Turn 6 on the opening lap.

Taz Douglas’ race ended when he sailed into the barriers after a suspected puncture caused by contact with Ash Walsh that spun the Brad Jones entry two corners earlier.

Repairs to the tyre wall meant the race was paused for more than an hour, ensuring a time-certain finish that eventually led to just 125 of the scheduled 161 laps being completed.

Stanaway had made the most of pole position to lead the early laps, holding top spot until making his first stop on lap 20.

Dumbrell pitted with the Kiwi and leapfrogged the Monster Ford, holding the advantage until the Red Bull Holden was hit by a right-rear tyre failure on lap 35.

Dropping more than a minute from the lead, Dumbrell’s demise handed the ascendancy back to Stanaway, who showed the way until handing over to Waters once his minimum 54 laps were completed.

Premat put in two clean opening stints to be less than 3s behind Stanaway when the driver changes occurred, putting McLaughlin well in the contest.

McLaughlin closed onto the back of Waters by the time the Monster Ford pitted for a third and final time on lap 87.

The Shell Falcon was in a lap later but, held up slightly by Rick Kelly’s Nissan, returned to the track once again 3s adrift.

McLaughlin was unable to do anything about Waters over the final 40 minutes, however, settling for second place.

Shane van Gisbergen had been holding out Mostert for third when he had a front-right tyre failure on lap 106, sending him off the road and resulting in an eventual 16th place finish.

Red Bull had earlier elected to start van Gisbergen and Craig Lowndes due to their lowly grid positions – the only primary drivers to line up for the first stint.

Van Gisbergen charged from 21st to 13th on the opening lap alone and managed to take the lead from Premat by the end of his first stint.

Although that put the Red Bull entry in contention, Campbell then faced a double-stint, the second of which came against the primary drivers.

The Porsche star ran third throughout his second stint but, predictably, lost ground to Waters and McLaughlin, leaving van Gisbergen with an 11s deficit when he returned and he ultimately was fending off Mostert rather than pressuring the lead duo when the tyre failed.

GRM’s joy at seeing Tander steal fourth was backed up by a strong seventh for James Moffat/Richard Muscat.

Lee Holdsworth and Karl Reindler were an equally impressive eighth despite a loose drivers’ window late in the race, which Holdsworth was able to punch out in order to avoid a black flag.

Tim Slade and Walsh finished ninth despite their opening lap drama, but finished the race with uncertainty hanging over whether they had breached the driver time regulations.

Mark Winterbottom/Dean Canto completed the top 10 after Canto had also been turned around on a frantic opening lap.

Rick Kelly/David Wall ended up as the top Nissan in 15th on a horror day for the factory squad.

Mobil 1 HSV Racing also failed to see the top 10, with James Courtney/Jack Perkins 11th and Scott Pye/Warren Luff 22nd after spending time in the garage with a throttle issue.

We might remember how Walkinshaw Racing lost their Holden factory deal and subsequently wobbled around the back of the field ever since. They've now done a DJR/Penske style deal with IndyCar squad Andretti Autosport and British sportscar team United Autosports to form a partnership. Could be a leading contender to rivals DJR, 888, FPV racing

The Walkinshaw team has been the subject of a buy-in for weeks with Speedcafe.com revealing that McLaren F1 and United Autosports boss Zak Brown alongside a host of high profile teams were interested in the former factory Holden team.

A deal between Andretti Autosport and United Autosports has now been completed, which will see the squad renamed Walkinshaw Andretti United from January 1 next year.

It is understood Walkinshaw will hold an equal partnership with Andretti, while Brown and United Autosports will become a minority shareholder.

The partnership is pending approval from the Supercars board.

Mobil 1 HSV Racing boss Ryan Walkinshaw hopes the arrangement will push his team forward having endured a slump in recent seasons.

The Clayton outfit currently runs two Commodores for James Courtney and Scott Pye

What a nightmare race for most teams, wet & wetter.
Many cars off track regularly, yet it was almost half race distance before the need for a safety car which is a real rarity.
Almost a lottery who would win in the end.

Damn shame for Scott McLaughlin, engine failure robbing him of a great opportunity. Lucky for him championship wise, Jamie Whincup had a similar issue, but managed to get a finish at the back for not many points. .

Congrats to Davy Reynolds for coming out on top.

I only came in half way through the race, it sounds like it was the best half to see. Son, set the race to record using his T-box as he was tied up for the start, all well and good, he watched the entire race except for the last four laps because he programmed the machine to stop recording at a time, he expected that the race should finish. Given the weather, he stuffed up. OF course, time he found out, it was all over. Bummer!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

    Awesome Bathurst
Had a wager on David Reynolds at 8am Bathurst Morning
Not based on anything more than i thought he could do it and just really wanted that team and him to win!!!

My brain said Scott would win, but my heart wanted David to win
    Couldn't believe my luck

A very well deserved winner in my eyes!

Beat me to it OB but yeah, great competition, skilled racecraft, close racing, new faces on the podium and the PB trophy going to Betty and the battlers at Erebus.

One of the best Bathursts I've seen in a long time
