    Default VZ Commodore station wagon windscreen washer

    Hi, I hope somebody can help me. My VZ commodore windscreenwasher was always slow.It would wipe the screen 4 or 5 times before the water came out. I thought the water should come out first.
    Anyway now there is nothing,the rear washer works perfect.
    I disconnected the hose and blew into it towards the water tank but its blocked. The hose runs under the fuse terminal unit.Any advice? If not I'll join the rear hose to the front,lol.

    Disconnect the hose before the jets and test. If water comes out its just the jets need cleaning.

    If no water comes out, listen to if you can hear the pump running when you activate it.

    No pump noise, check fuse, fuse fine, replace just the washer motor.

    Noise, find the blockage, blowing with your mouth wont help, use a aircompressor blower.

    Just throwing in a handy hint.
    I always keep a sewing pin (the type with the plastic ball on the end) pushed into the end of the sun visor so just the ball is visible.
    It's then handy to clear the jets or it can act as a lever to swivel the jet to adjust the direction of the stream.

    It's not the jets.It is a blockage.The pump must be ok as the rear window works fine.I'll try a fine wire like of an old oven thermostat capillary.Thanks for your replies.

    I had VT commodore and there was a one way valve incorporated in the line, check if it's got one. They usually go faulty that's why water was coming out later then the wipers.

    Most cars have a separate washer for the rear window so your test fails at that point. Disconnect the line at both ends and then try and blow.

    Yep, dont discount the pump, usually there are 2 pumps, one for front and one for the back, and both on the one water bottle.....

    VZ wagons run 1 pump motor with the same pump for front and rear washers.
    The washer pump reverses it's direction of rotation for each mode by the BCM (body control module) by reversing the motors polarity depending on the washer switch position.
    Remove the hose from the pump motor and try to blow through it towards the washer jets (disconnect it from the washer jets first).
    If it's blocked, either clear the blockage or replace the hose (check the hose connector up near the firewall as well).
    If no water is coming out of the pump motor when you operate the front washers with the hose disconnected check the pump and motor. The pump-motor assembly has a filter on the water inlet that you can check by removing the pump, but seeing as your rear washers are working, this shouldn't be blocked as it's the same supply for both modes of operation.
