Default TomTom One XL - starting from scratch?

Tried to update my TomTom One XL to the latest maps and seem to have scrambled my SD Card.

All I get now is a message saying the map cannot be used with this version.

Stupidly, I don't have the original files to reload to the SD card to get my unit running, as I copied onto my original card.

Can someone please help me with a guide and files on how to get my unit up and running again?

I tried to follow the info post on this forum, but get lost and either can't get all the files that the guides require or don't know what to do.

I think I need to program a SD card from scratch with the correct files, whatever they are.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have made a backup with tom tom home then just restore the backup untill you figered out what you have done wrong or you could just get the new 8.011 Home dll and copy it to

    XP:

    C:\Documents and Settings\????\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles \????.default\extensions\Navcore.8.?????@tomtom.co m

    Vista:

    C:\Users\???????\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profi les\?????????.default\extensions\Navcore.8.?????@t omtom.com

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried to restore the backup with TomTom home, however it didn't work as it gave me an error saying I wasn't backing up to the original device the back was made from, or words to that effect. Basically it didn't work.

Where to I find the 8.011 Home dll and what do I do with it when I get it?

Have you got evrey thing off your card
if you have just format it and restore it should work
it is reading some thing from the card and it does not like
if you are to sacred to do it just get another 1gb card and use it
    have done mine maney times
But if you could put the new home .dll in the right place then all you
would have to do is just copy the ttsystem to your card and recrack it
then your map should work again

here is the way to do the dll proply
    C:\Users\someuser\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Prof iles\xxxxxxxxx.default\extensions\Navcore.7.161.84 91@tomtom.com\Navcore.7.161.8491.1.dll

rename dll to : Navcore.7.161.8491.1.dll and overwrite existing one in the folder as per above.

location of the DLL could be different depending on your computer and OS. also, please note:

TT Home may detect navcore version you are running incorrectly if you are using ttbif.bak file.

I would advise that you do the following:

    browse to:

    1. :\Users\someuser\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profi les\xxxxxxxxx.default\extensions\

    2. delete all DLL files that you will fnd in subfolders.( not the folder! only contents)
    3. connect your tomtom GO to TOMTOM HOME
    4. choose operate my go option
    5. tomtom home will download appropriate DLL file and will place it in the folder as per above.
    6. disconnect your GO from TomTom home.

    7. locate DLL file that tomtom home just downloaded and change file extention to DLL.bak
    8. copy *fixed* home DLL that you have downloaded to that folder
    9. rename *fixed* home DLL with name of original DLL that you have renamed in 7xxx.dll or 8xxx.dll

now you can operate you GO via TomTom Home

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately no I don' have the original files from the SC card, I stupidly erased the card when attempting the original upgrade.

I am running TomTom HOME version 2.2.033 and it does not have the option you mention to select - Operate my go option.

    I tried Operate my device.

It then reported it needed to download a file, which it did. I checked the Navcore directory where you said to delete the .dll file. It had downloaded the new one there as you mentioned.

I did the rename thing as you described and then reloaded TomTom HOME and connected the TomTom XL, allowed it to do its thing, then disconnected and rebooted the TomTom. Once I selected my language etc, it then told me the product needs to be activated before I can use it.

I'm completely frustrated and confused, I seem to be going around in circles, I've been trying all sorts of maps and keygens all afternoon without any luck.

    Am I missing something simple?

Do you know of a way to start from scratch with just the standard SD card files? Even just to get the unit working again to display a map would be a bonus.

Thanks for your help so far, its much appreciated.

Thanks for the link to the files.

Sorry to be a pain, but can you please describe the process required to successfully use these files?

To get your map working again you need to copy ttsystem and Meta.txt
    to root of card
make shore you have your maps in dir like Australia 720xxx then run the
    Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher\RunMefor AllAutomatic.cmd
    it will ask you Enter
1 or 2 for your Choice, Standard is 1

    1. Run it for Navcore 8.010 and higher
    2. Run it for Navcore 7 up to 8.002

1-2 :choose 1 and you will be prompted with

    Available Drives:
    C:\
    D:\
    E:\
    J:\
Enter Driveletter of TT Devicestorage :
if there is no error then it has cracked the map and it should work

as for the 8-011-9374-2.dll just copy it to were it says and home will not
    stuff your map up
    C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\Application Data\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\7jimgd3d.default\extensi ons\Navcore.8.011.9374@tomtom.com

and if you wont the QuickGPSFix to update again then you will have to copy these files into the dir of ephem there are three tom tom kills them

    hope this helps

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this.

Finally got a working SD card image with the basic maps etc, v652 from memory.

I followed your instructions and cannot get the latest maps to work.

First time I booted the TT with the new files on the SD card installed, it got as far as asking me which map I wanted to run. Selected a map then it locked up.

Each time I reset the TT and reboot I only get as far as the TomTom ONE XL boot screen and it locks up. A reset is needed to get the unit to boot.

Can anyone help me get the latest maps to work on my TT, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, Ihave a tom tom one xl device, I have lost all data on my device.
I have managed to get navcore 8.204.9718 with the
Western and Central Europe 815.2003 map on my device.
everytime I boot up, have to do the setup - language, time, speach,
then says, problem with map you cannot use this map on this device:

I have some easyusetools, which I find difficult to understand,
not too sure if I have the right tools for this software.
is there a easier way I could do this to get this map working,
    Thankyou in advance.

I have no problem patching pc software or games by just replacing the patch,
or by applying the patch, this is all new to me, thought it would be more
    straight forward than this.

I am new to posting on this site, hope its okay posting this here.

    Many Thanks. Roy.

As in the internal memory of the XL? Ie you remove your SD card and the tom tom boots up fine?
Or do you the XL version which requires an SD card?

Anyway, i updated my fathers tomtom XL a month or so ago with ttsystem 8.412.1236, the latest maps and setup Loquendo Text to speech, advance lane guidance, and IQR (trip planning/traffic) yada yada....on the weekend i will have a look at the files on his SD card, but i believe this was the contents of setconfig.txt (which resides in the " config " directory of your SD card if your using the cracked ttsytem)

    Code:
    model:x40light2
    runclean
    viewmsg
    sdid:1

    changedtext Uber TomTom ONE XL
    delgns
    fmoff
    btoff
    rm
    nomsg
    usesetting
    noqfixdel
I think your tomtom is freezing as it's trying to emulate another model and failing - x40light2 worked the best for me x40light1 worked well, as did X30.
Try changing these models and see what happens.

ori = switch to your real Device
    x20 = switch to x20 Emulation
    x30 = switch to x30 Emulation
    xls
    ttssdk
x40 is Standard (for ttsystem 8.412.1236)
    Cheers, RHCP.
