    Default Soniq TV Repair

    Hi,
I'm trying to repair a Soniq TV model E40W13A-AU.
The Red standby light comes on but nothing else will happen with either the remote or the standby button on the TV.
I've examined all electro capacitors on the power supply + other boards and there's no visible sign of failure/bulging.
I've measured the power supply 5V + 12V O/Ps and they seem OK.
Any suggestion as to what to try next?
Does anyone know where to find a circuit diagram for a Soniq TV?
It's pretty hard trying to work without one. There's not that much info printed on the boards.
I emailed soniq but no reply.
    Thanks
    Bruce

    Thanks for replying.

I'm not familiar with LCD tellies.

There is no voltage on the supply to the screen LEDs. I've just watched a youtube video which indicated that there should be a significant voltage on these maybe 30 volts or more.

Is this normally switched on and off by applying 5v to the pin labelled +5VSB on the power supply?

If this is the case then I might be able to figure out if the problem is the power supply or something else.

    Any clues appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bruce

There should be a constant voltage on +5VSB Pin.
Using the remote or Standby Button should pull in a relay the applies power to the main power supply.
Look for the main power supply capacitor (400V Type ) and see if it has about 350V across it when the on button is pushed.
If not bridge the relay contacts ( while off ) then apply power.
If it fires up then the problem is in the Standby/ On section.

    Thanks for your reply Reschs,
Yes it has power on the main elec cap, and also +5v, +12v and +24v.
I don't think the problem is the power supply.
It isn't switching on the backlight supply for some reason.
It looks like the signal to do so is not coming back from the main board.
This might be a problem with the board or some kind of protection thing.
It's not looking hopeful for this telly.
