EDIT: That post below should link you to Philquads uploads where there is a solution for download, unfortunately i just tested it & it's empty.
Edit 2: I actually have the downloaded file from Phil here if you have somewhere I can upload it to for you. It's a 140Mb ISO image file so need somewhere that will take large files.

There are other solutions in this thread

    Sorry for your loss.
You could try removing the hard drive from the laptop and putting in a cradle.
Alternatively download and install to a USB then boot from the USB

    or have a look here
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

My condolences for your loss. Hope she rest in peace.

I don't know how to break the password, but I do believe there is a way. But I only a way to get around the password. You can took the HDD out from the machine and connect it into another computer to access it. And don't forget to run from the Other computer's operating system. Otherwise, that HDD would ask you the same password again.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I hope the advice supplied here has helped you.

I was about to post the same question on behalf of my sister who has lost passwords on her laptop except that it is a windows 10 machine. No doubt there will be a similar work around to get back into the machine. As she lives in another state I have asked her to go to a local computer repair place, I am sure they will be able to sort it out also

    Sorry about your loss man...

There's a few fixes but I'd use commandprompt if you can get your head around it, otherwise there's the live cd/usb route or putting the HDD in another computer.

Or you can use the sticky keys trick to change the password without external applications
    1. Mash F8 on startup to get Windows recovery menu
    2. Open command prompt
    3. Backup sticky keys to HDD (as it will be temporarily replaced): "copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:"
    4. Copy command prompt to replace/imitate sticky keys: "copy /y c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe"
    5. Reboot to Windows login screen
    6. Activate stickykeys/cmd-in-disguise by mashing the shift key (Doesn't always show up straight away so hit it a few extra times)
    7. Change the password by changing the following to fit: "net user *username* *newpassword*"
7a. Command "net user" should bring up usernames
    8. Login using new password
    9. Replace/fix sticky keys with the backup: "copy /y c:\sethc.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe"

    Hopefully that helps
