    Default Counterfeit Chinese Products

Some nice knockoffs of our trusted western brands. Can you spot the difference?

Soup for sluts had me on the floor laughing.

As some of you know, ive started manufacturing my own goods here in Melbourne.

Threw up a few listings 7 months ago, within weeks similar looking products with similar brand names started appearing, similar sounding, similar looking........but they were Aussie sellers.

My view is if you want to make money on products be a creative thinker and do your own thing, separate yourself from the rest, be a leader not a follower.

Following, copying etc is just a sign of a weak mind.

    Trademark time me thinks.....

    "Johnny Worker - Red Labia"

Might have to wait a few days before you touch that one.

The booze lables look a lot like the ones on the stuff that Aldi sells.

I think there may be a bit of clever Photoshopping going on.

Yeah, you're probably right, but made for a bit of a laugh anyhow.

I actually heard somewhere that it is extremely difficult to take these guys to court for IP theft, like you have to challenge them in a Chinese court and there are immense complications involved.

In one case, the knockoff company made so much money that they actually bought out the original one, and *poof* the court case simply disappeared.

One of my favourites is the OFC. That colonel looking suspiciously like the former U.S. president.

Looking at them, I think most of them are not genuine.... but Chinglish is always amusing.

Having said that, I have seen plenty of weird labels and signs in my travels.

I thought the same.... deliberate no doubt.

No prizes for guessing what the 'O' stands for then.

You will find that some Chinese will copy the original brand and logo as precise as possible, especially watches, expensive handbags and accessories.
Pretty sure there are more fake Rolex and Tagheuer out there than real.

I picked up a fake Tagheuer automatic for $20 on a garage sale and I don't regret the purchase.
It performs perfectly and not even a minute spot of corrosion after I did heavy cleaning to remove the grubbiness from the former owner who must of used it often.
I had to do a lot of searches on the Internet to spot the difference.
It wasn't even quite clear if the serial number was fake but a failed water droplet test proved that the glass was not sapphire and the weak fluorescence of hands and dial warranted taking it apart(with my Chinese special tool) to confirm it was a fake.

When in Hong Kong, my wife loaded up with fake hand bags, they only lasted about a year before they started to fall apart tho

I think that's the issue here with most of these products. In the western world, the badge is not there just for the badge's sake, it's of course a mark that the product is of a certain quality, hence why you pay, and why these are called "cheap imitations".

You can go for Dolce and Banana, but after a week, the banana is rotten.

But then, like nomeat said, the watch he bought still works, so there must be some good craftsmanship there. And that's the thing, what if some of these actually are of good quality?

I've been to China quite a few times and never seen any of the miss-named stores or products. Go to the markets however, and ask the right questions, and the counterfeit stuff is amazing..no miss-spelling at all. The shirts have all the right labels, the buttons on them all the right brand labels.

I got a few 'Tag Heuer's' over there that look pretty good and as nomeat said, they work perfectly. They are not even battery quartz but actual automatic watches that wind with wrist movement. Just don't believe the waterproof to 150 meters bit...more like 1 cm

Fake or counterfeit Chinese aircraft parts was a big issue a few years back, especially in the American military sector. We were affected as well, because the parts we used to service our aircraft were sourced from America. I haven't been involved in the industry for quite a few years, so I don't know if they still have the problem, but definitely a worry. "Re-manufacture" of scrapped, defected legitimate parts was also involved.
