    Default VAST Loss of Signal

I don't watch TV via vast very often as it's for me caravan. It lost signal for the last 10-15minutes. No sure if this is a regular thing during heavy rain.

My outlook atm to the north is clear, however we have a huge storm coming 20km to the west. Looking at the radar Sydney has just had a huge storm go through. Would the dropout be due to the storm in Sydney affecting the uplinks?

Rain-fade/signal loss will affect smaller receiving dishes mostly, but yes, very heavy rain/storms can and do affect uplinks from time to time.

Normal for rain fade at your end & the uplink during big storms.

My wife was watching VAST W.A. today and lost all signals for about thirty minutes around 1.30p.m. West Aussie Time.

It was a pain in the neck for her and we never had any bad weather either just a loss of transmission!

I'm guessing this is the uplink locations in Sydney.

    SBC Artamon
    10 Pyrmont
    9 Willoughby

Nope... all the uplink (and satellite control) is located at the Optus Satellite Earth Station in Belrose.

All of the Optus satellites are controlled from there.

Although it's a little off topic, there is an aerial view of the Optus Belrose facility, as well as others, at .
