    Default Formula One 2017

Thought I would do the honours this time

All getting new cars due to the new regulations.
Should all be a bit faster, hopefully a bit of a reshuffle, Toto is nervous
Bottas replacing Rosberg should be very interesting.
Only 4 power units per car for the entire season is going to be tough but they can modify them as much as they can afford.
There is a reduced limit how much you can spend on the engines.

Geez, you'd be a bit upset to be paying for the Foxtel Sports package and there is No coverage from the Melb F1 today, not even the V8 Supercars
But you can watch F1 re runs from the 80's and 90's
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!

Nah, not much worth seeing in the schedule today any way, apart from the last half hour or so of V8 Qualifying, but I can live without that.

All the F1 Practice sessions, Qualifying & Racing & V8 races are televised live. That's all I got time to watch anyway.

BTW; Don't forget MotoGP from Qatar, FP1 early tomorrow morning at 3:45am.
    Cheers, Tiny

Not often you see ONE have Live Coverage of the F1 1.5hours earlier than Foxtel.
    But you today you did!

bugger that, been watching the FS coverage.

Qualifying about to start & Vettel in the Ferrari is fastest so far after doing the fastest ever lap of Albert Park in FP3.
    Could be interesting.

Weather took it's toll, couple of spits of rain, track temp dropping. Dan didn't need that, however he will recover.

Still looks like an interesting race though.

Im not sure what the story is with the Melbourne Formula 1 corporation, but what on earth has happened to this event?
The poor broadcast teams, they filling filling filling the gaps talking to absolute no bodies, because there is just NO Track action.

No Celebrity Challenge (what happened to that?)
    No Touring Car Masters
    No Formula Ford
    No Ute Racing
    No Aussie Racing Cars

Which were all at the event 2 years ago when i went to see the new turbo F1 cars
And most all were there last year.

I'd certainly not pay for a ticket to go now
It is painful enough on TV watching Cricket Players and Skanky models try and tell me about motorsports!

I wonder if this has anything to do with F1's new ownership? Or just the Melb F1 Corp issue?

but, but there's the Roulettes air display & 2 jet fly overs in the hour & a half before race start. Surely you'd go for that.lol

Seriously though it's pretty poor track coverage, I've had 10 on for the last couple of hours & I'm that bored I'm going to light the barbie & cook lunch before watching the V8's race 4.

Gosh you poor guys have nothing to do than watch that boring telly
I am so busy working with projects around the house, yesterday's P and Q were the only moments I managed to sit down a bit and even missed some of it.

Redbull apparently learnt nothing and left their cars underpowered contary to that extra 80hp Mercedes managed to cook up and Ferrari have done a fine job too.
I feel sorry for Dan who has no other option other than try to exceed safe limits in the curves in the hope to gain a little time there, but still lags 1.5 seconds per lap behind.

Looks like the first 5 seconds of this race could decide if Vettel nails it or not. Fingers crossed, I know you all hate Vettel but Hamilton in the front from start to finish again would really ruin it for me.

BTW Ricciardo wil be starting from 15 due to gearbox change after that little excursion, not 10 in Tiny's list.

yep team decided to change the gearbox at lunch time & copped the 5 grid penalty & now he just failed the sighting lap. Got stuck in 6th gear. Bummer.

    HE'S BACK
Great race, great start for a promissing season.
Really happy to see those Italians celebrating their fantastic effort making F1 exciting again.
Shame that there was not a third close contender but lets see how things develope over the season.

Can you supply some evidence for that?
That is a really low B.S. comment from a sore looser
Ricciardo certainly does not share your view.
He stuffed up his car yesterday, so it was very likely that there could have been unexpected some flow on effects from the damage

Verstappen did a great job fending off Hamilton and he has delivered exciting performance in the past too.
    Get over this 1, 2, B.S.
All drivers should, and the way I see it from Redbull, ARE treated the same.

yeah, never thought I'd say it, however I really enjoyed seeing Seb win that race convincingly.
Hope the season continues strong, with more driver input in these new cars.
Triple fail for Dan, backed it into wall in qually, change gearbox as a result, would be an odds on bet the sudden stop & gearbox damage contributed to premature engine failure in a race he was laps down. Hard start to the season for him.

Good to see Vettle and Ferrari do well. It's been a while for the prancing horse. But I hope the rest of the field pick up their game. Big time difference between 1st and 10th.

    first off, some news;
Alonso to skip he Monaco F1 round in favour of a guest drive in the Indy 500???

Two-Time F1 Champion Alonso To Compete in 101st Indianapolis 500

April 12, 2017 | By IMS and Verizon IndyCar Series

The Indianapolis 500 has attracted another world champion to its driver field.

McLaren announced today that Fernando Alonso, Formula One’s two-time champion and three-time runner-up, will compete in the on May 28.

Alonso will drive for Andretti Autosport, which has won four Indianapolis 500s, including last year’s race with Verizon IndyCar Series rookie Alexander Rossi at the wheel of the Honda-powered Dallara. Honda also powers Alonso’s car on McLaren’s grand prix team.

Alonso becomes the ninth driver to enter the 500 with a world championship on his resume. In recent years, Nigel Mansell’s participation in 1993 as the reigning F1 champion was the most celebrated, with media interest at a fevered pitch. Mansell finished third.

Alonso’s decision to join this year’s 500 field adds to the momentum of the race and the Verizon IndyCar Series. Last year’s 500 was sold out for the first time in history and broke attendance marks. The Verizon IndyCar Series has seen television ratings increases each of the past three years, a combined 55 percent, and Alonso’s participation should provide an even greater spotlight on month of May activities.
