Problem with EDM Solution 16 home alarm
Hi everyone, I recently changed the battery on my EDM Solution 16 home alarm system after receiving a low battery fault code. After replacing the battery the charge light came on ok but a short time later everything turned off on my alarm keypad and I can't get any response from it. Any ideas on what went wrong and possible fixes would be great.

Check the glass looking fuses in the panel.

Ok... there are one of two things that might've caused the alarm to do that. A, you must've used the wrong type of battery which caused the 3 amp fuse to blow (3 amp fuse is the top fuse on the left of the PCB). The battery that's required for a Solution 16 is rated at 12 volts DC 6.5 Ah (make sure it's an SLA battery!). B, you must've connected the leads the wrong way around. This will also cause the 3 amp fuse to blow. You will need to replace the fuse (with the exact value) and replace the battery with the correct rating. When connecting the new battery, make sure you connect the black lead first to the black terminal (-) on the battery, then the red lead to the red terminal (+) on the battery.

Battery guy: "Sounds like a fair swap".
