"Kodi is viewed as a particular threat to pay-TV because it makes it easy and user friendly to watch pirated streams on a big-screen television."

I don't want to tell the media executives how to run their business but maybe there's some way to make money using this "easy and user friendly" concept.

Are there not other boxes that can also do this? All I can see out of this will be a change in the business model of Kodi et al.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Kodi is just just media playing software like VLC.
Nothing to do with Pay TV
