Irish Coke off the menu then....

Haven't been drinking it for about a year and a half now due to acid problems, but when I do taste one, it honestly tastes like the cleaning stuff they use on the tile floors in a public restroom.

I can't, for the life of me, work out why I used to love it so much and drank so much of it for so long.

Maybe conditioning from advertising and peers.

Probably the most repulsive thing I ever drank was a diet coke. You could easily hide a bit of feces in that and nobody would notice.
As I kid (in the late sixties ) I also remember news reports of rats found in coke bottles.
Probably a lot can get unnoticed in such a dark liquid and if you drink from a can you wouldn't know until you swallowed it or at least have it in your mouth.

The taste of Coke does seem to vary in the can, bottle or via a 'Fountain' but I agree the latest does have a different taste, to me its less 'sharp' if thats a word I can use to describe it.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

They say the tastes can vary around the world too because of the different tastes local water can have in all the places around the world where they have bottling plants.

I guess they try and clean the water as much as possible, but still rely on local water supply - so I suppose if there is "something" in it, it'll show up.

It's interesting how personal tastes vary. To me again, the can always tasted more refreshing somehow. The stuff in the bottle tasted more "stale" to me, like it had less gas or sharpness or something, it lacked that zing.

Yep. I hate the taste of artificial sweetener. Even a sugarless, sour or bitter Coke would taste better.

I usually select a can over a plastic bottle. I think it tastes better.
