Microsoft finally sheds light on Windows 10 telemetry
This morning’s revelations about Win10 Creators Update snooping (finally!) sheds light on your privacy, but there's a whole lotta snoopin' goin' on.
Creators Update Windows Defender problem - Device performance & health
asked on
After installing the Creators Update, Defender now displays a yellow triangle with and exclamation mark.
When I open it, device perfomance & health is flagged. The 'problem" Defender doesn't like my screen brightness settings under battery health.
I have power plans for when I am on battery and when I am plugged in AC. I have my screen brightness set just where I like it for battery & AC. Now Defender "recommends" I adjust the brightness settings. Is there anyway to tell Defender "Thanks for the advice now buzz off."?
It is a minor problem to be sure. Defender updates everyday and performs scans. I just want to be able to see the green checkmark over the Defender icon in the task bar, instead of the yellow triangle. In my book this is not a device permance or health issue. If a device needed an update or something, the alert would be fine.

Thank you. We’ve heard your feedback and wanted to provide an update on our progress. We are currently busy revising the criteria that trigger yellow alerts in Defender’s device health monitor. Once the revisions are completed, they will be released within a future Windows Update.

The latest cumulative update "2017-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4022725)" appears to have fixed the screen brightness warning issue.
Was installed yesterday on both my PC's.
That was pretty quick of MS to sort that out.

Hey guys, is this the one that is preceded by a message to check your privacy settings and set your preferences for stuff?
I got that the other day, but no indication yet to download the creator's update. I have a whole lot of data that will be expiring soon, so would like to get it before that happens.
Oh yeah, and how big is it?

Yes it will ask you to check your privacy settings before it self installs.
It's pretty big & took a few days, after I got the privacy setting window, before it finally installed.
Don't worry, you will get it whether you want it or not, unless you turn off updates altogether.
Cheers, Tiny

Wow, huge thing. It used up all my spare 5GB I had and now it's still not complete.
i think the size is just under 4gb if you are referring to your hard drive with the 5gb,whatever the size of your hard drive you should always have at least 15% of the size of the drive vacant if you do not wish to encounter problems
