Default Optus D2 > Press TV off air?

    Hi all,

It appears Press TV has gone AWOL. . .

    Optus D2 [152.0°E] Transponder TP5L ~ 12519 V sr 2250 fec 3/4.

Does anyone know what happened to Press TV? Any information very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

The last time this happened was when sanctions were imposed on Iran some years back........then after the Obama/Iran deal they reappeared.

Could be a commercial decision by Press TV, or possibly another squeeze because they've been naughty boys in Syria.

Thanks TD. Yup it sure smells like Australian Govt et al, interference with the free flow of information - more sanctions imposed on Iran the likely cause via Washington.

Hey OB, Press TV has actually been fairly solid on the Optus bird for sometime. I was watching Press TV on D2 earlier this week.

I am trying to get official word from the fine folks at Optus as to why the service has gone down.

Maybe the channels have wized up to the fact that being on the D2 platform is a waste of money for very little return in the age of streaming.

Hi Craig, I can provide an official quote / response from Optus which indicates commercial reasons, rather than political reasons.

Quote: "There are no technical issues but there are some commercial ones that are hoped to be resolved in the near term."

I guess when it is Free to View, what can you expect.
Anyone care to guess what numbers their viewing audience of D2 KU band would be?
