ol' boy (09-04-17)
I couldn't find any posts on this great phone and started this in the hope others might contribute to this little marvel of a phone that does not come with a User manual nor are any available online.
This is the model I bought when on special last month for AUD$224 delivered. Took 11 days to arrive but did have to wait 6 days before they shipped.
The only neg found after 6 days usage is the phone when on Speaker seems not very loud to me but sufficient.
I retired my HTC M8 phone for this Xiaomi Note 4 and contrary to what I expected have not even missed the HTC.
Appreciate your thoughts and hints on this device. So far I am hooked on this budget phone.

Thanks for posting sail
Why not go on with it in a bit more detail with some pics etc
Always nice to hear about a product that a member actually owns and uses.
There really seems to be a broad selection in this $200AUD price range now
ASUS ZenFone 2 (being another)
Motorola Moto G4 (being yet another)
I really like the idea of these 2nd Tier phones as a spare handset if your main unit dies.
But there always seem to be a problem with them in one area or the other.
Like Battery Life or CPU or Picture Quality or Audio.... Something always seems to let them down
How would you say your Xiaomi stacks up?
No B28 support band doesn't worry you?
4100mAh Battery, but non removable (so quality is critical for longevity)
Many App compatibility issues with the Xiaomi?

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
A bit early to totally qualify this phone but all the signs of it looking good are there.
Battery life is brilliant two full days easy but not a concern seeing it is on charge every night. Although great to know you can flog it all day and have something in reserve.
Band 28 is of no concern as yet. Have not tried a country run yet but others say it has not affected their coverage.
I haven't struck any app compatability issues as yet and I do run a few.
Do a YouTube search for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and you will discover a lot about them. Apparently the Note 4X runs a different CPU but difference I should imagine would be minimal. Cannot complain about the CPU: Helio X20
Cores: 2.1GHz,Deca Core
Sorry must run now but will be back.
BTW: I would recommend this phone over many others more than double its price.

Some of their (Read any brand) expensive phones would have to make you coffee in bed after giving you a Happy Ending to make the difference in the much cheaper Redmi Note 4 noticeable.
I took three OS visitors around yesterday and they were very impressed with the Note 4. They sported latest iPhone and Samsungs. :-) Unfortunately the weather prevented much photography but did do some personal photos and videos that were okay. Specially with the given light conditions.

I spent last night reading about the Note 4 and the Note 4X
I think i'd rather the Note 4 from what i've read.
1. Note 4 (MediaTek) has MediaTek Helio X20 (MT6797) CPU with Arm Mali-T880 780MHz GPU - Note 4X has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 with Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU
2. Note 4 offers 4 colors: Gold, Gray, Silver, Black - Note 4X offers 5 colors Black, Gold, Pink, Silver, Turquoise
3. Note 4 has all metal body - Note 4X has mix between metal and plastic (plastic are downside where micro USB is and upperside where 3.5mm connector and IR port are; i.e above and bellow antenna lines)
4. Note 4 has dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity - Note 4X does NOT have dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity
5. Note 4 has weight of 175 g - Note 4X has weight 165 g
6. Note 4 has screws on micro usb side and can easily be opened - Note 4X has no screws on micro USB side and I didn't find anywhere how to open it.
7. Note 4 has IR port in the middle of upper side - Note 4X has IR port on side of the upper side (this means Note 4 cover will not match with Note 4X)
8. Note 4 has compass - Note 4X has NO compass
9. Note 4 has Samsung S5K3L8 camera sensor - Note 4X has Sony IMX258 camera sensor

Pity Whirlpoolians didn't look elsewhere. Some mistakes in their Note 4 thread.
For example Costa's reasoning here in not buying the Note 4 with the Helio X20 ...
Helio X20 vs Snapdragon 625: Performance
If we are strictly comparing the performance of the two versions, then the Chinese Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with Helio X20 is definitely the winner here.

Interesting that the MediaTek CPU opens things faster, but doesn't play video as smooth
And the QualComm CPU is slower, yet smother with 3D rendering etc
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
Empty your mailbox. Tried to PM you but no room in you mailbox.
You can put it here

Worth repeating. (Hoping some misinformed Whirlpoolians read this...

Well, between the 2 models 4 vs 4X there are actually many changes, not just the CPU.
And from watching live video playback, the Snapdragon does it smoother, the Helio X20 drops frames.
(As shown in my YouTube link above)
So, why are they saying the Helio X20 is better?
I see it opens apps faster, so faster general speed, but not so great on Video rendering, perhaps this is more the GPU, as both are different.
But agreed, they are both good for the money, have fantastic battery life and reasonable cameras.
If you can live with MIUI software over Android then you will be happy.

But when comparing phones, it is a different outcome
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
What is the Redmi Note 4 like for Screen Mirroring?

Sorry I do not understand. We are comparing different chips in virtually the same phone aren't we?
Those links I posted to the article do not seem to be working. So here is the gist of it below...
Helio X20 vs Snapdragon 625: Chips Inside the Redmi Note 4 Versions Compared
Xiaomi has just announced the international version of the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 smartphone and as expected, there’s one major difference in this new model as compared to the original version — the processor inside. Continuing the tradition, the company announced the Redmi Note 4 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip inside, instead of the Helio X20 chipset that powers the Chinese variant of the model.
So, which ones better in terms of performance?
Helio X20 vs Snapdragon 625: Performance
If we are strictly comparing the performance of the two versions, then the Chinese Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with Helio X20 is definitely the winner here. Mediatek’s Helio X20 chip is actually meant to power flagship models, but like its predecessor — the Helio X10, the chip also ended up in mid-rangers like the Redmi Note series. This is great for mid-rangers because their performance is now taken to a whole new level. Considering how most Helio X20 models have at least 3GB or 4GB RAM versions, the combination of a powerful processor + ample RAM actually makes phones like the Redmi Note 4 great performers.
Coming to the Snapdragon 625, it’s pretty decent. It’s definitely not as powerful as the X20, no doubt about it. The SD625 comes with eight octa-core Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz which is actually a tried and tested combination. It doesn’t provide amazing performance as some tech enthusiasts would like, but it will be decent enough for normal users. In comparison, the Helio X20 features 2 x Cortex A72 cores @ 2.1GHz (power cores) + 2 X Cortex A53 @1.8GHz + 4 x Cortex A53 @ 1.4GHz (efficient cores). As for the GPU performance, both the chips should handle graphics pretty well.
Here are the AnTuTu and Geekbench scores for reference. Note that benchmarks don’t really mirror real life performance, but they come in handy for comparing two chipsets.
Helio X20 scores around 85-90K on AnTuTu while SD625 scores around 60-65K.
