Thanks to the Shadow Brokers, any hacker can now easily attack and pwn millions of Windows computers on the internet.
On Friday, the group known as The Shadow Brokers dropped the hacking equivalent of a bomb, or perhaps several bombs, giving hackers all over the world the tools to easily break into millions of Windows computers.

Looks like a good reason to be running W10.
"It's not safe to run an internet facing Windows box right now," said a hacker who used to work in the US Department of Defense.
In the meantime, you can either shut down your Windows machine or block incoming connections to port 445 and 139 with the firewall to prevent some of the attacks, according to security researchers.
The leaked tools are dated around 2013, so they don't affect modern Windows operating systems such as Windows 10. But according to Hacker Fantastic, the FUZZBUNCH framework supports all kinds of Windows systems: server versions from NT, 2000, 2003, 2008 and up to 2012, as well as the consumer versions XP, Vista, 7 and Windows 8.

The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
Read an article which claims people are refusing to upgrade to Win10, wonder if this will change things?
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"
Ever wondered if the "bugs" are by design to scare people to upgrade???

Not any new news to me.
Hadn't had any of my Windows machines face the Internet since 2005.
Eversince 2002, the first time I became aware of severe security breaches of Windows and their continuing "patching up" (back then I had to download patches and apply them manually), I got more and more annoyed until I discovered alternatives and never looked back.
I see no difference to Windows 10 today, still dodgy with it's constant need for 'security' updates. Of course there will be newer hacking tools, since when do hackers give up?
People who think Win10 is now suddenly super safe life in a dreamworld.
This will go on and on until Windows ceases to exist, which is happening slowly as ppl move away from classic PCs.
There is some great software for Windows that I can't run elsewhere, but online use? Not with a 10ft pole.

Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.
Compatibility: A word soon to be deleted from our dictionaries as it is outdated.
Humans: Entities that are not only outdated but broken... AI-self-learning-update-error...terminate...terminate...

This is truly frightening news...
Microsoft has already started to fix Winblows' breaches apparently, so, that's something
Anyone have any update on whether this is being patched by the big M? I've been watching for Windows Updates coming through and there hasn't been anything specifically addressing this issue (although I'm unsure what's actually included in the "Security Monthly Quality Rollup")?
I suspect that these "backdoors" are so deeply ingrained into the OS that they can't be patched, and I have to wonder if these things are somehow planned by some marketing people somewhere just to encourage people to upgrade, although you're kidding yourself if you think the latest versions don't have similar faults as well, it's just that the 'tools' haven't been made public for them yet.
Andrew
Hi Andrew, check the website below.
Microsoft fixed critical vulnerabilities in uncredited update released in March.
