Default USA to AUST device conversion

I 'Stupidly' purchased a kitchen device off Amazon without reading the small print
As it turns out its voltage rated at 120V 60H 65W (It's a Retro Milk shake machine)
As it will reside in the kitchen I don't want a bulky 120V to 240V converter sitting on the bench.
I'm told there are ebay available devises that just plug into the wall socket and the device plugs into that.

But I'm somewhat confused with talk of wattage and hertz etc etc
Can someone flick me a link that once purchased won't fry the kitchen when I plug it in

    Thanks
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Highly unlikely however if the device is DC powered with a DC motor then you can throw away the power supply and head to an electronics store and buy something suitable.

Otherwise very sorry to say there is no easy solution. You'll need to provide a 120 V supply so you'll need a step-down transformer, something like the 100 W shown on this page - they are clunky and heavy.

The mixer will also run ~ 20 % slower as the motor will be designed to run at 60 Hz, not the 50 Hz supply that we use here.

For the price of the step-down transformer it's possibly worth cutting your losses and hunting around for a new unit. Sorry for the bad news bud.

Thanks Voltage, It's about what I assumed.

The only 'adaptors' I know of fitting that description only convert the plug pin configuration to suit the power outlet. Eg: travel adaptors

They don't convert the voltage or frequency of the mains power supply....(with the exception that some have USB charging outlets) unless it's some kind of device I'm not aware of.

Years ago we uses 'Cycles per second' instead of Hertz who it is named after.

240 Volt, 50 Hz, XX watts.
Western Australia once was 250 Volt, 60 Hertz and people going from the Eastern States moving to WA were warned NOT to use their old appliances there as they would be damaged by the higher Voltage/frequency.

In the past to use something like that you bought a 'step down' or variable' transformer to reduce our Mains Voltage to what you needed but they could cost as much as the appliance itself which is why you rarely ever see them for sale, new or second hand.
Look at the labels on much of our imported appliances and they can read 100/240V, 50/60 Hz XX wattage indicating they can be used almost anywhere in the world.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

That would only be true if it was using an induction motor which is highly unlikely unless it is for professional use and 65W is definitely not.

    Mr. Butts,
This step down transformer on Ebay is pretty small and should do the job:
It is VA rating is very tight : AC output for appliances up to 65 watts
but I don't see a problem with mixing a bit of milk and ice cream for 30-60 seconds, as long as you don't try to gind nuts or coffee beans with it

Personally I would only bother with a stepdown transformer if this is for a proper Vintage appliance.
If it is only a 'retro look' Chinese gem, then you might find on Ebay for a similar price of the transformer a mixer from an Australian seller.

Don't know if it is worth it at $49.95, but:
