downloaders and NBN connections
Hi forum users,
After some advise on what config you guys use to remote programming of systems now NBN has started to spread.
Our office is on NBN's FTTP, as are a lot of our clients.
For the most part, our clients have chosen a few different communication paths: NBN's UNI-V (works well for B2B and Self monitored), 3G diallers (same again), some ATA's/IAD's (not reiable, normally fail after 2 months) and the Permaconn units.
But our downloader won't stay connected when dialling into a panel, it calls and connects, but connection drops off due to "excessive noise on the line" when using 2x 3G diallers, and Uni-V doesn't support the fully range of frequencies needed.
And everyone knows VOIP just doesn't work.
The ADEMCO/Honeywell panels only have a POTS connection, and some of our systems are a day and half drive away, so a service call isn't really a valid option just to change a few codes for them, yes the customer's can change codes themselves but they prefer us to do it.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I have found the permaconn units to be reliable for download most of the time

Most of the time?
Is your downloader on the Permaconn, or still on a PSTN?
There's no more copper lines where i am.
Via the permaconn GPRS path
