on sale ATM for $207 USD, which is ~$270AUD. Still more than I can afford ATM, but thought others may be interested. The original link in the first page is also no stating they post to Australia.
There might be some interest in a Special Price for Austech Members on this unit.
Or maybe even a group buy.
Without speculating on the price at this point, who would be interested in unit if we could get special price for our members?
I know a lot of you will say "depending on price", but how about a show of hands if you're interested first.
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
best unit out there at the moment in my mind, if we could get a better price then yes I would go another one

Thanks efab, yep, i'm very happy with mine too.
It honestly leaves every other Android box i have for dead, in terms of power, ability and image quality.
Im still a very big fan on the U4 Quad too, a daily driver on plenty of the families TVs.
But, i don't own every Android box out there either, i'm sure others are also good.
What i really like, is the communication we have with products software team. Any issue is addressed without question.
You hardly get that after sales service with much these days! Especially not products out of Asia.
EDIT: If it seems a bit step for a TV box, you can also look at this unit as a NUC or Mini PC, it takes a full size HDD, all the peripherals plug in, you can run Linux or Android
Also makes a handy Network Media Server, Giga LAN, large HDD capacity.

I'll put my hand up for a group buy.

Yep, OB I still use the U4 in the office and enjoy it still.
I'd be interested, depending on price

Is there a reason it is running an old version of Android? Will this be updated to a more modern version?
Reason it is still with Android 5 is the CPU manufacturer started development kit based on Android 5. Now we are working on Android 7 which could be ready hopefully by end of July. All the bits and pieces done with Android 5 have to be coded again. Painful.
A group purchase will be a good idea. If in one shipment we could get more than 10 boxes, it could save up to $20 in freight per box and we will be happy to provide some more discount. Anybody is willing to help to get all boxes in Australia and distribute them again?
Exactly, seems people want it for no other reason, other than they think its better.
Can't say my Android version has ever been an issue on ANY Android box i own.

It's my understanding that 5.1.1 has a few issues, but perhaps that is only relevant to phones. I am only going of a friends suggestion, as I've never had an Android box.
ok, so what my friend was referring to was:
1. His experience with Smart TV's there updating to 6 fixed performance issues in general, plus Bluetooth connection problems.
2. Experience with Car Stereo Bluetooth connection issues
A quick Google search seems to back both of these points up. It will be interesting to see if the update makes the interface run faster.
There are a lot of very successful Android boxes out there, from many companies.
A lot of them running older versions of Android
From what i have noticed, they all have their own individual issues, poor wifi, poor bluetooth, etc etc
It seems mostly based on the Firmware Development to be able to use the hardware correctly (often it is ported from a Tablet etc)
Or CPU types and what they support and don't support.
Sometimes, if the hardware become popular, third party firmware may be developed and fix some of these issues
But still running on the older version of Android it came with.
I really don't think, having the latest version of Android is some kind of guarantee the box will work better.
If anything, it just introduces the potential for new issues.
But, lets wait and see
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
