Default Digital USB DVB-T HDTV TV Tuner Recorder Receiver

Hi i just bought one of these online yesterday and was wondering if anyone has had experience with these. Do they work properly? Would i need different software to pick up the channels and also would it work alright on Windows 10? Thanks in advance.

(I put it into this category as it is a digital tv receiver although it is viewed on a PC)

I don't have one of these particular tuners, but have used others OK.

Assuming you are in Australia (or another country that uses DVB-T) it should work, but as for WIN10 compatibility, it's an unknown, as the ad only specifies "Support:Windows 7 / 2000 / XP / Vista." so I suspect it's an old product.

The antenna provided is typically useless, unless you are in a very strong signal area that has UHF transmissions (typically regional areas) so you may need to connect it to an external TV antenna. (You'll need an adaptor).

I've bought 6 different cheapo USB tuners from ebay and they've all come with Realtek RTL2832 chipset.

Haven't tried them in Windows but if you get stuck with drivers search for that model, they definitely pickup fine in linux (tvheadend) and work on kodi/raspberrypi.

I get Access Denied when i clicked that link

Depending on what other Hardware you have, i use a different USB DVB-T tuner, one that works in the Enigma2 Receivers.

Finally arrived and will post pictures when it all is up and running- I've installed the drivers and the Blaze TV software that arrived with it and is scanning the channels but not finding anything- everything is connected and the drivers are setup but the lights on the usb are not working so is that an issue? (Haven't connected it to roof aerial yet as we don't have an adapter but the signal around here should be good enough)

Those antennas that come with them are useless. I wouldn't expect to see pictures unless you connect to your home antenna.

Yeah, if you have one local, take the portable antenna in with you to make sure you get the right adapter.

Update: Finally have it working!!! I had to buy these several adaptors from Jaycar:

ADPT SMA PLG - BNC SKT

ADPT PLG BNC - SKT RCA

ADPT PLG RCA - SKT TV/75R

and a ADPT SMA To Telstra 4G USB Modem.

Hope this info helps others who have bought one and don't know what adaptors to buy.

I have tested it and it works fine on Windows 8 and 7. For me it seems it is having a bit of trouble picking up all the channel 10 Channels but could be because it is a different codec type? All in all it is an excellent product.

So it was definitely a signal problem with the portable antenna, yes ?

Tuner quality varies with these items, and channel 10 likely has the worst signal in your area. Do you have a signal reading on your main TV when its plugged in to the main antenna ? Check what level channel 10 is at compared to 7 and 9.

Channel 10 has the lowest signal at my place and doesn't even work on one TV. Thats what I mean by different devices have different levels of quality in their tuners.

Good to hear you got it going and thanks for posting up the adaptors.

Yeah i have noticed that Channel 10 is not very good on our TV's from where we are as it is very crackly but we use Foxtel for that. I would like to know if you or anyone knows any websites where it tells me how strong signal will be in a specific place. I have used one of the old tv re-tune sites before that gives you all the info and maps but i can't find the link to it. And don't mention it for the Adaptors. And yes the portable antenna that comes with it is quite bad... Not even sure it could be re purposed for a radio or anything.

There are way too many variables to determine that, such as type of antenna, mounting location and height, surrounding terrain like trees, other buildings, hills, traffic, cable length, etc, etc.

Even moving half a metre in some locations can deliver an entirely different result.

The only accurate method is to use professional signal measuring equipment at your location.

I have now confirmed it works with Windows 10.
