I wouldn't be concerned. It says that they're only doing it so they can make the BBC more personal and relevant to you. They wouldn't lie to us, look how pretty the colours are.

Not a problem for me as I registered a few years ago.

    It's really no big deal.

If you're serious, the downloadable publication at might be of interest.

Only one item available from BBC iPlayer website .

200,000 people, pfft makes our biggest festivals of 16,000 people look pretty lame

Anyone now a good way to watch this on Android without a DNS?
I think last year i must have used a DNS then the iPlayer App on my Android box
On the PC you can just use Beebs browser addon.

Slightly off topic, but a little while back it was either ABC Iview, or SBS On Demand, on my smart TV that required a sign in to view. It didn't previously though. I'm always a bit skeptical about things requiring you to sign in with an email address too.

Then use a little imagination concerning an e-mail address, i.e. create 'special' e-mail account using g-mail or similar.

Similarly, create an appropriate residential address in the area required.

I always use a junk email address for such stuff, then change it to a normal one later if I think it's required, for my own convenience I mean. I just thought it unusual at the time though.

Strange, i just signed in with my last years BBC login
Then was made to update some details, Age, Where i lived (UK of course), Click submit

Then all my BBC and Glastonbury streams stopped playing or loading

I then signed out, open a new browser window, they all play normal again

EDIT: BBC sent a new verification email which i missed
    Working now after Verification
