This is child abuse, pure and simple. The teachers involved should be charged and everyone responsible for it sacked. And all for the purpose of teaching a myth as fact.

It reminds me of a teacher that used to bully me when I was around that age (slightly younger). I could remember how much this person actually seemed to enjoy what they were doing to me, and seemed to enjoy it most when they could get me to cry in front of everyone.
I truly believe that teacher played a large role in turning me into the partially psychotic, emotionless monster I am today.
The teacher in my case specialized in threats, personal isolation/exclusion (making the other children hate and gang up against me), creating immense feelings of guilt, and tried to frame me several times with the principal and my parents. Luckily my mom saw through this person's BS, but she wasn't there in the class to witness, so yeah...

Agreed, and as much as I detest lawyers, if this happened to one of mine I'd look @ suing the ppl responsible
The ppl who came up with this little thought bubble should be sacked, and then their boss should be sacked
