One thing that has been overshadowed a bit by these dummy-spitting commentators is how well Pacquiao has behaved. A true sportsman and of course one of the greats.
I have no idea how they score such things, pugilism is not one sport I follow. From the news reports that I saw, Horn gained a lot of credibility in my books when he decided to continue when the referee asked if he wanted to give up and said, "Show us what you got, or you're out". Actually, could that be classed as coaching???? I did not watch the entire fight, but the shorts on the news, looked as though it was a pretty fair fight. Regardless of the result, I think Horn is a winner anyway.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

In a real fight without an umpire the moment Horn stumbled it would be in for the kill and a knock out
Interesting....

For all the naysayers, Horns win confirmed
Just goes to show what a close match it was. The re-match is going to be even bigger. A win for the promoters, the boxers, and for Boxing.

Unfortunately I think we will be stuck with the same ignorant US commentators. I suppose at least this time they will know who Horne is. Who knows, they may even call him by name once or twice.
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"

With those sorts of rules, maybe they should get a couple of footy umpires to referee the round, it's not as though they haven't had to adjudicate a punch up or two.

Pacman still in denial. It's a shame so many sporting greats don't see the signs that it might be time....

3 Judges call it a win, 1 calls it a draw and 1 calls it a loss
Pretty sad if scoring of the fight is so broad.
Just goes to show what happens in so many other fights.
If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
I wouldnt say its broad, its just the way the 10 point must system is.
10 Point Must System - The most widely used scoring system since the mid-twentieth century is the "10-point must system", so named because a judge "must" award ten points to at least one fighter each round (before deductions for fouls).
Any round that is close can be scored either way depending on how the individual judge sees it. One fighter gets 10, the other 9.
If you knock your opponent down (and the referee gives him a count and he gets back up), the round will be scored 10 - 8 in your favour. If you ignore the referee's warning in regards to low blows or fouls etc, he may decide to take a point off you - this is done clearly for the judges. This did not happen in this fight. The Yanks are whinging because the referee didnt put fouls on Horn over head clashes. I agree with the referee....they werent deliberate and this is what commonly happens when a conventional fighter and a southpaw get together....heads bang.
The chart below shows the 3 judges score cards from the fight, and the 5 independent judges that scored it later.
Anything in the 113-115 range is correct - either way. And 7 out of 8 judges showed exactly that.
