A 75,000-mile-wide HOLE has appeared on the sun – and experts warn it could knock out communications satellites and cause blackouts on Earth

Some pretty neat videos on the link.

    Was reading that earlier.

Might make for some interesting times ahead with comms outages/interference.

We worry about the housing market, buying the latest guggagig SMART phone, next years model gallon guggling 'Canardly' and having a BMI (body mass index) of 10,000 when one of these 'events' can in an instant, render all our problems to a cinder!

They call it an "M" class spot, does that mean that it is habitable for humans?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

And looks like it's on again:

The Sun Just Erupted: Blackouts Reported After Huge Solar Flare

The sun just released a massive solar flare. In fact, this is the largest solar flare emitted in the past decade, and the earth has already been affected by blackouts.

NASA has reported a huge solar flare was emitted by the Sun and it is the most powerful one since 2006. This solar flare has already caused some radio blackouts on Earth and it may cause aurora visible as far south as London. On the morning of September 6, scientists watched as two X-flares were unleashed by the sun.

Saw footage of aurora in Finaland in "No Comment" segment on Euronews today..........some of the most spectacular aurora I've ever seen.

They speak of HF radio blackouts, but strangely, I observed the exact opposite... increased HF performance over the last couple of days.

    Certainly appears that way.

It was a sudden dramatic increase of signal levels and oddly, noise reduction.
