have a look at this only found it yesterday so don't know how good it is
you could also use this and the reformat
Hi all,
This post probably belongs in another forum but I thought non-technical members should also be aware.
I am in the process of backing up my computer (Win 10) to an external USB hard drive.
Tried using windows image copy and get an error message saying "Bad Clusters on Source Disk".
Ran tools from windows checkdisk and it says disk is OK.
OK, I thought I will use Casper 10 to do same copy. It shit itself as well.
Checked on the web and sure enough loads of people are complaining but no one seems to have a working answer.
Does anyone here have a working utility that works on Windoze 10 and permanently clears or isolates bad cluster (like old Nortons used to) or alternatively something that can make my problem go away? Other than a high speed lead injection into my head.
Thanks to all in anticipation of a working solution.
Luv and kisses

Sounds like windows 10 is objecting to making a simple copy of protected sectors. Try using a backup/cloning tool that's independent of the Windows OS (like Acronis for example) IE something that boots from its own USB drive or CD so Windows has no say in what sectors or files the tool reads. UEFI partitions can be troublesome otherwise.

Hi all,
To everyone reading this thread just a quick heads up on a couple of issues.
I have WD usb and main drive so I downloaded from WD web site the acronis for WD and the WD diags, Both FAILED miserably.
Acronis imaged drive on USB WD disk will NOT boot.
and the WD diags only worked once and then failed with memeory BIOS errors.
Sooooooooooooooooooooo
If you are facing these cluster errors on WD disks just DL Casper 10 trial edition and Regenerator and you are good to go.
Luv and kisses to all

Acronis used to be OK years ago but since their latest updates it is total rubbish.
Sorry, I should have warned you when I saw Skepticist's post but I didn't think you were going to use it.
Thanks for the heads up with Casper.
