Are you sure that it's a toy? I would be concerned if a person of any description walked up to me waving that thing around. As the copper's poster indicates a toy is not meant to closely resemble ANY working firearm otherwise it is called an imitation firearm for which there are rules and regulations. Whilst I appreciate that kids like to play with "guns", if they are performing, as this piccie implies, then a toy, of any variety should not form part of said performance unless it is part of the "script".
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Imitation firearm
Walmart, Amazon halt sales of toy guns that look real in New York

POLL: Police replica gun fears
Many sellers argue that the presence of an orange plastic tip on a toy gun makes the item legal.
That may be true in the United States, but not Australia.
Hundreds of online resources explain how to remove the tips.
The Newcastle Herald has reported several cases where replica guns have been used in armed hold-ups and assaults in recent years.
They include an incident in March in which three youths used a replica handgun to rob two other youths at Tighes Hill.

I guess the only way to be 100% sure is inspect it.
As for toys present when performing, well...kids will be kids, that's just another non-issue as far as I'm concerned.
Perhaps that community hasn't yet been corrupted by the PC brigade, good for them.

I see from posts above the pic's been pulled from at least one of the articles already.
With all the PC/hide-the-truth rot the ABC carries on with, plus their regular following of numpties continuously complaining about everything, it's not really surprising that's happened.
Obviously the community the boy is from hasn't been conditioned over time by the media & other interests to run around peeing their pants at the mere mention of or sight of a firearm, once again, good for them.

Not so in Victoria:
Note: From 1 July 2011, devices that have the presence of a coloured barrel plug will be deemed to be an imitation firearm (and not a toy firearm) unless that barrel plug is combined with other characteristics of a toy as described above. This will mean they will require an Approval of the Chief Commissioner or Exemption under the Control of Weapons Act to be possessed, carried, used or sold in the State of Victoria.

Lol, ok, point taken, I could have worded my post better I guess, though most of them don't give a sh*t about political correctness from what I've seen.
Rubbish.
It's the propoganda sprouted by the media and the anti's, and the unfortunate fact that a lot of people believe them, as well as the stupid government legislation that's been punishing legit firearm owners since Howard blackmailed the states into enacting the various weapon's acts that makes life increasingly difficult for legit firearms owners.
And it's done on an ever increasing basis everytime there's an incident with a weapon, which is almost exclusively always caused by criminals who don't give a sh*t about obeying laws anyway.

It was probably required to shoot those pesky people that are trying to introduce the welfare card to indigenous communities.
OT
But its the whole population of the town who are receiving welfare, be it unemployment benefits or a pension who are forced onto the cashless card, not just the abo's, which is a bad 'kin joke IMHO, forcing everyone on welfare to use the card because of a shitfaced minority
But of course we cant just make the Aboriginal community do it because that is racist. Despite figures showing Aboriginal children are starving and being sexually molested at huge levels, we cant single out a group doing the wrong thing simply because they are black.
What a joke. And we are now going to change our constitution to recognise them as the owners of the country. Gee, cant see that blowing up our faces. Aboriginal Australia already owns 40% of the Northern Territory and over 70% of the Northern Territory Coastline.
